The issue here is that there is a tiny window between the two conventions when she could announce. It was either today, tomorrow, or Sunday.

Yeah, that would have been terrible timing....

But sure, Friday evening, much better, 'cos everyone's glued to their tv sets and not going out of town for the weekend, or going to the movies, or taking the family out to dinner to celebrate the weekend.

When there's no other news going on, right?

Or maybe you announce on one of those political shows itself, right?

Because with big news like this none of those political shows would reschedule guests to discuss this announcement, right?

But you thought all of that through and still think announcing on a late Friday afternoon is the PERFECT time, right?

Whatever. You seem hell bent on your idea that the campaign is making a grave mistake, when in fact their timing was excellent, both for this subject of the Saturday and Sunday shows and for squashing the effect of the RNC.

But you seem attached to the idea of, "They're screwing up! They're news dumping! They're hiding something!"

I wonder why that might be?

Poutrage fatigue, indeed.

You are the one that seems invested in the idea that this is the bestest, most wonderful-est VP announcement timing EVER!!!!

I wonder why that might be?

It is possibly the most bland, uninspired choice she could have made, and adds NOTHING to the ticket.

Perfect opportunity to be bold, forward-looking, dynamic, instead she picked the Vice President of the local Rotary Club.

Bland White Male Politician Fatigue indeed....

on the farthest left that she needs to win this election, and she already gave the farthest left the most progressive platform in history.

I understand that the purists will never understand this, but Kaine adds a swing state to the ticket. We all understand that the purists will see this as occasion to flounce around and complain because they are not being catered to, but then the purists never win elections, do they? Which means, by definition, that the purists never get anything done.

And yes, I know, it's awful, and you would have done miles better, but Hillary choosing someone who appeals to people who are not already with her is the most strategically smart thing she could have done.

let them focus on the very crazy trump episode at the Hyatt today.

it's better off to let the media start to realize just how INSANE he is. they alluded to the off teleprompter episode a bit, but this is going to have to come out. he does it EVERY time they let him free form it. the dems also HAVE to start pushing his mental illness. FORCE the media to respond.

tell them they are 'concerned' for his health

35. VP picks
Sat Jul 23, 2016, 07:58 AM
Jul 2016

With the possible exception of LBJ, VPs make little difference in the election results. The point is to pick someone who will do no harm. No offense to Kaine, but VP's are generally bland. The timing of the announcement makes little difference as it is months before the GE, imo. tRump will further alienate himself from sane Americans in the coming months. If Hillary Clinton can restrain herself from taking a massive dump on the flag, she will be fine and will win. But we all must vote and encourage others to do so.

Oh...and in no way do I intend to suggest the Hillary wants to poop on Old Glory. It was just an example of the kind of extreme gaffe she would have to pull to lose this thing.
