General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsThe Big Story this week that I will bet anything the media will ignore:
Trump's links to people and money in Putin's orbit.
Banks here won't lend him carfare.
Private financiers won't go near his financially toxic ass.
Russian Mafia and various Russian (actual) billionaires have been funding his projects. Many of these people have direct ties to the shirtless horseman, Putin.
This is a really big deal. Coupled with his asking NATO, like amy street bully might, to pay protection money to him, it doesn't sound to me as if he would be a president who is in it for the US.
How much does he owe them? How much would they forgive if he gave them . . . . . I don't know . . . . . Poland?
And don't forget the oily central casting gangster Paul Manafort's direct - DIRECT - ties to the Russian backed Ukraine guy.
No, there is a real story here.
The Big Story.

(260 posts)I would much rather have the media give wall to wall coverage this week to our ideas and allowing us (our speakers) to make the case to America why Hillary should be President rather than just rehashing why Trump shouldn't be.
There is plenty of time for HRC to expose Trump further (including the Russian ties info) after the convention, and I'm sure she will.

(61,695 posts)that were known for human rights abuses. Manafort is soulless. I suspect that's another reason DT picked him, along with the ties to the former Putin puppet in Ukraine.
From his Wiki page:
Association with Pakistani Inter-Service Intelligence Agency Edit
Manafort received $700,000 from the Kashmiri American Council between 1990 and 1994, supposedly to promote the plight of the Kashmiri people. However, an FBI investigation revealed the money was actually from Pakistan's Inter-Service Intelligence agency as part of a "false flag" operation to divert attention from terrorism. A former Pakistani ISI official claimed Manafort was aware of the nature of the operation.[18] While producing a documentary as part of the deal, Manafort interviewed several Indian officials while pretending to be a CNN reporter.[19]

(28,795 posts)SPY magazine mentioned Manafort, Black, and Stone.....yes, Roger Stone, in an article highlighting exactly what you mention
you can read the whole article, but it's part of a google books thing, where you can read every single SPY magazine ever issued, from about 85 to 98.
trump was one of their favorite targets, those being, giant, hypocritical aholes. the Clintons were high on their list, as well, Hillary being the subject of some very scabrous covers, which I still have.

(28,795 posts)that's where I got my first taste of trump, along with doonesbury
they really got to trump, didn't they?
that's where the short fingered vulgarian thing started.
graydon carter, who began it all:
Just to drive him a little bit crazy, I took to referring to him as a short-fingered vulgarian in the pages of Spy magazine. That was more than a quarter of a century ago.
To this day, I receive the occasional envelope from Trump. There is always a photo of himgenerally a tear sheet from a magazine. On all of them he has circled his hand in gold Sharpie in a valiant effort to highlight the length of his fingers. I almost feel sorry for the poor fellow because, to me, the fingers still look abnormally stubby. The most recent offering arrived earlier this year, before his decision to go after the Republican presidential nomination.
Like the other packages, this one included a circled hand and the words, also written in gold Sharpie: See, not so short! I sent the picture back by return mail with a note attached, saying, Actually, quite short. Which I can only assume gave him fits.

(28,795 posts)help in his undoing:
never able to let a slight go unanswered, even after it becomes irrelevant, he went off on a fevered tangent against Cruz, threatening to start a PAC against him, and bringing up his dad's being a JFK assassin.
it was marvelous to behold, because these ravings are a bright spotlight onto his mental health, and the dems better damned well start using clips from rants like these to show just how INSANE he is

"A trail of dollars from a Hong Kong businessman to the Republican National Committee is emerging from new documents turned over to campaign finance investigators in the Senate. The documents also indicate how the former Republican Party chairman, Haley Barbour, might have offered to help the businessman with deals in China in return for financial help to the Republicans."
"The documents, given to Senate investigators late Friday, shows the role played by the businessman, Ambrose Tung Young, in providing the financial backing that allowed the Republican Party to free up some much-needed money for the 1996 election. Mr. Young, under pressure from Mr. Barbour, absorbed a $700,0000 loss in 1996 on a $2.1 million bank loan that had been taken out by a nonprofit group headed by Mr. Barbour and that was used, in large part, to provide money to the Republican Party. (9,089 posts)However, if, as according to Trump, Hillary Clinton's speeches to Wall Street compromise her position, then that is an allegation that MUST be made forcefully about Trump and his Putin connections. I agree with the OP that this SHOULD BE the biggest story of the week. If all things were equal (by the so-called liberal media) and as much attention was paid to this as to Hillary Clinton's speeches and emails, Trump would be dead meat.

bring up those speeches
when are the dems going to wise up? don't they have easily discoverable details like these at their fingertips?
does anybody here have any ins with the campaign?
I might....the guy gore ignored about florida, the ignoring of whose advice cost him the election...and his brother, who was just on Beyond the Beltway, a wingnut hosted radio show on WLS (and TV broadcast in syndication). I should give the latter brother a call and see who they're in touch with.....I know the other one has a picture of himself and WJC together. so I got that much going for me.
