Secret Service 'aware' of Trump's 2nd Amendment remark about Clinton

WILMINGTON, N.C., Aug. 9 (UPI) -- The U.S. Secret Service could potentially take a step unprecedented in American political history -- investigate one of the candidates it is assigned to protect.

The agency said it is "aware" of a remark made by GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump at a North Carolina campaign stop on Tuesday, which appeared to some a thinly-veiled quip about threatening Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton with gun violence.

...you don't know what the Secret Service has dealt with the last 7-1/2 years. What I do know for a fact is that President Obama and his family are safe and alive. Given the intensity of hate directed at the president, I find it unbelievable that the Secret Service hasn't stopped multiple assassination threats. And we will never know because the word "secret" is in their name.

Former CIA Director Michael Hayden on Tuesday slammed Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump for apparently joking about the possibility that Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton could be shot.

"If someone else had said that outside the hall, he'd be in the back of a police wagon now, with the Secret Service questioning him," Hayden said Tuesday on CNN.

The FBI has already been contacted after Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump called for violence against Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton

The super PAC Democratic Coalition Against Trump has already contacted the FBI:

The Democratic Coalition Against Trump today reached out to high-level contacts in the Washington, D.C. field office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to voice concerns about Donald Trump’s call for violence against Democratic Presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, and to argue that Trump should be arrested for attempting to incite political violence.

….

The Democratic Coalition Against Trump immediately reached out to senior officials from the FBI to raise alarms about this call to violence, and to demand that Trump face felony charges under 18 U.S.C. § 879 for making these threats.
