2. Neither Trump nor the pro-gun militants deserve any slack on this, whatsoever.

Trump is clearly mentally unbalanced; an assassination threat against an opponent is just another day on the campaign for him. And as the pro-gun militants never ever tire of preaching to us: the 2nd Amendment is not about hunting, it's about the capability to violently overthrow a government you're displeased with. Trump issued a death threat against a candidate who is clearly ahead of him in the race. Last night I heard Allen Dershowitz saying that Trump may very well have committed a criminal act with those words. I'm no great fan of Dershowitz, but I damn sure agree with him on this.
