1. And it also reminds me of 2008

when Palin had her own rally. She was firing up the base when an individual shouter "Kill him!", meaning candidate Barak Obama. She just smiled in response.

Say what you want about John McCain. He never let his audiences go beyond the pale. He corrected them, negating their allegations that Obama was a Muslim (and implying that made him an enemy worth assassinating).

2. There was nothing accidental about Trump's filthy comment.

It was yet another creepy dog whistle to the unhinged segment of the republican voting base---and it wasn't about voting, no matter the revisionist cover stories that are circulating right now.

3. And we all saw the result

A lunatic with a gun took Palin seriously and went on a murder spree.
To this day I don't know why Palin was never held responsible for her actions. I do believe that tragedy ended her political career for good. Finally the majority of our nation saw her for what she really was, a reactionary cheerleader for the unenlightened white (trash) lower class.
Now we have trump inciting the same segment of society. I really hope trump is somehow stopped by President Obama before these types have a chance to vote, or commit mass murder.

5. I think Trump is worse, because his intent is clear

Palin used a tasteless and careless metaphor, but I can believe she wasn't actually thinking about encouraging people to shoot those she named. But Trump was thinking just that.
