He's a republican sans an internal filter. He's the result of decades of Rush and Hannity, Drudge and Breitbart. He's Fox News without the chryon and commercial breaks.

He's what happens when, cycle after cycle, elected republican officials take the reasonable enough conservative notion that government run amok is no good, and conflate "run amok" to mean anything that isn't funding wars and turning bible stories into law.
