5. I saw the transcript of that exchange, and the OP is misleading.

Joe was saying she could not convince Republicans with her reasoning because she was a Democrat. Meaning that they would never listen to her no matter what she said or how well reasoned.

Joe actually took a dig at Republicans with that remark, stating that they are unable to be swayed by reasoned argument and that they would dismiss her opinions as those of a mere Democrat.

20. I don't see too many members of any political party

being swayed by anything anyone on whatever the other side is has to say about anything ever. Adults don't change their minds all that often. Whatever happens, we fit it into what we already think. It's very difficult to fundamentally change your mind on a topic.

That's why every organized effort targets the kids. If you can get the kids young enough, you can mold their thoughts to whatever side you're on. Nobody really wants the kids thinking for themselves, as that leaves too much to chance.

People who live in rural areas often don't have cable services with HSI or DSL from the phone company. I have satellite with a limit of 10 Gig per month. Video will eat that up tout de suite.

Frontier is doing a massive build in the county next to us for DSL. I don't know if they will get to us before I shuffle off this mortal coil. It really ticked me off because I maintained the systems (now retired) with an employee discount I could've gotten DSL for $13.00 per month. We were on dialup until 2 years ago when we went with Wild Blue/Exede satellite. It's a definite improvement but pricey. Doesn't work well in rainy weather.

He meant that Republicans only listen to Republicans, and would not listen to a Democrat (and a Democrat woman at that, although Mika is not that liberal.) He said it in a really condescending manner though as he is used to talking to her

she took it the wrong way, but to be sure she is probably VERY used to him clearly insulting and condescending her! (She has said before that when she was growing up her family would always condescend to her and belittle her intelligence, they would literally make comments about how they thought her intelligence was much less than theirs...now she is grown up and apparently attracted to it. Sad)
