New Study Reveals The IQ Of Republicans In America

Liberals have always agreed that conservatives suffer from a low IQ, and Donald Trump and his supporters have certainly cemented that belief. However, does science (the thing conservatives don’t believe in) come to that same agreement? Opinion is one thing. Facts are what matter.

Science does, in fact, prove that Republicans suffer from a lower IQ. The “Bright Minds and Dark Attitudes” study found that a person’s intelligence as a child could predict conservative and racist ideas as an adult.

2. I am thinking it has more to do with their choice of news information, FOX delivers

Garbage, ergo, garbage in, garbage out. They are brainwashed with lies and misinformation prepared by FOX and RW talk shows, of course it benefits the GOP.

3. Definitely brainwashed,

but it is possible people with a lower IQ could be more susceptible to that kind of brainwashing.

Edit to add this from the article:
“Ideologies get rid of the messiness and impose a simpler solution. So, it may not be surprising that people with less cognitive capacity will be attracted to simplifying ideologies.”

So in a sense, some people would be more vulnerable to Fox news and right-wing radio.

7. The post you criticized is well-presented and informative...

However, the remark by lindysalsagal is questionable, to say the least...

4. So people with weak minds are easily manipulated by falsehoods

Is there anything we can do to deprogram them or are they goners?

My hubby works with a lot of white wingers and he's given up on talking politics with them. They become unhinged when he asks a pointed question and he has to work with them so he avoids political talk. They have fox on in the break room and go apeshit if the channel is changed even to local news.

6. That's from the biased "science media"! ;)

Kidding.

Most scientists aren't conservative, though:
http://www.people-press.org/2009/07/09/section-4-scientists-politics-and-religion/
Most scientists identify as Democrats (55%), while 32% identify as independents and just 6% say they are Republicans.

Here's a study from England that indicated liberal students have more gray matter:
https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/the-human-beast/201104/conservatives-big-fear-brain-study-finds
Peering inside the brain with MRI scans, researchers at University College London found that self-described conservative students had a larger amygdala than liberals. The amygdala is an almond-shaped structure deep in the brain that is active during states of fear and anxiety. Liberals had more gray matter at least in the anterior cingulate cortex, a region of the brain that helps people cope with complexity.

It doesn't surprise me. Conservative propaganda has employed crazy fear-mongering techniques for as long as I remember, whether it was fear of Communist invasions or ISIS. Some of them are so screwy that they actually think Obama will impose Sharia law across the country and forcibly seize their guns. They are incredibly fearful and paranoid people.

8. I think all of us have been saying that they're idiots for a long, long time

They're so stupid that they have no idea how stupid they actually are.

10. MANY Democrats are CONSERVATIVES and this

discussion is thus out of line. DON'T BASH DEMOCRATS.

You know, if many conservatives are realizing that a move to more decency is in order, surely any self-designated "higher-IQ" liberals here should be arriving at that insight also? And sooner?
