God forbid is Trump were to win. Wish the election were a slam dunk right now but that is expecting too much.
If Trump were to win that means the ugly assholes I do not want to be around have won. And I will never agree to work with these bigots in any way.
My problem is that I would be conflicted about pledging allegiance. How could I defend what this country would supposedly stand for on the world stage under such dismal circumstances. The idea that open racist and bigotry would now be the main stream is impossible to imagine.
Such a situation means that progressive ideas, science, liberal ideas, etc would be under attack from that time forward. Trump and his supporters are the worst of the worst humanity. Lord knows I certainly would not serve in the military with any of them.

(10,749 posts)Granted, there are RW nutjobs throughout the government. But I would contend that the majority of government employees are there to do their jobs reasonably well. Some exceed, some do not. Some are retired in place, some are eager to get to work in the morning.
Now, picture how it would be for members of the Foreign Service to promote US interests and US policy abroad. Really, just picture it.
Picture the US military directed to undertake illegal acts.
Picture Homeland Security and the host of federal law enforcement agencies directed to carry out the mass deportation of 11 million people. Better yet, picture Trump forming a "Deportation Force" independent of any existing agencies and operating independently of them.
Picture a presidency where the president is a half billion in debt to a Chinese bank. Or a presidency where the president in debt to Wall Street for another few hundred million.
Picture a presidency where there's no such thing as a "blind trust, where the president will continue to play a role in his business operations.
And this is to say nothing of his cabinet choices, etc., etc.

My loyalty is to my country. That's a fact. But make me take a loyalty oath, and watch what happens...
