Cinemark Bills Aurora Shooting Victims for $700,000

http://www.sfgate.com/entertainment/the-wrap/article/Cinemark-Bills-Aurora-Shooting-Victims-for-8334

According to the Denver Post, lawyers for Cinemark filed a “bill of costs” for $699,187.13 earlier this month in Arapahoe County District Court for fees associated with a lawsuit filed by more than 20 survivors and parents of those murdered that was eventually won by the theater chain.

I am thinking lost revenue would make this a really bad idea.

Frivolous lawsuits cost people and companies a whole, whole lot of money in legal bills.

Plaintiffs lawyers will often take these on a contingency basis knowing only every 10th one or so will make it and just hoping they get a payoff big enough for those ones that do.

Defense lawyers, however, have to be paid. A person can file a totally baseless lawsuit against you and still end up costing you a ton of money to defend it.

Making plaintiffs who file baseless suits pay the legal bills they caused to be racked up is probably the only deterrent to put legal system being abused far worse than it is today in civil cases.

is that all plaintiffs had agreed to a proposed settlement until 1 plaintiff rejected the settlement offer/distribution.
