"DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD)– Dorchester County, South Carolina, is apologizing for accidentally killing millions of bees in Summerville, about 25 miles northwest of Charleston.

The honeybees were killed by an aerial spray of a pesticide used to control mosquito populations over the weekend.

The spraying came after rising concerns of the Zika virus. There are four confirmed cases of Zika in the Summerville area — all related to travel outside the area.

Registered bee owners are supposed to be warned prior to mosquito spraying but were not told this time. ...."

Get some BATS you weasels.....they do a great job against mosquitos ( and lots of other insects too). They don't kill bees and don't release chemicals into the environment.

Gawd , the stupidity...

It's hard to fathom something as simple as insecticide as something that would harm a bee.

being a former bee keeper, I would be colossally pissed off.

Especially now, because now it the time of the year for the second pull of honey.

We have roses in the front of the house that are attacked by Japanese beetles every year, but we refuse to spray - precisely because there are bees and spiders living in those bushes. Every morning, my husband goes out and manually disposes of the beetles.

I do it on the back deck with my plants and basil (yes, evidently they enjoy basil, too).

I'm heartbroken over the loss of the bees.
