(15,235 posts)Unlike most world leaders, Putin is FULLY qualified to run an intelligence-gathering, world-class, nuclear monster, because he worked his way into leadership through the KGB. While I am highly critical of the illegal invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan, by the Bush/ Cheney crime syndicate, George H.W. Bush, was a previous CIA director, who knew how to lie and repair the economy. "READ MY LIPS: NO NEW TAXES." Then, he raised taxes on the idle rich, which is the reason they only allowed him to serve one term as president. Bill Clinton failed to abolish the Bush taxes and was impeached. I am glad Obama served two terms, as president; but could not restore the US Economy or Social Security to the previous stability of the Clinton years. Obama supports gun control and is obviously upset that Putin brought a concealed weapon to the meeting.
U.S. adversary?
Putin does not hate ALL people, in US Politics though:

(15,235 posts)After alien abduction (aka kidnapping) a needle full of anesthesia, begins a War over "hearts, minds" and/or life-expectancy.
Here, in New Mexico, a killer who became a legend, conducted similar trickery with guns. William Bonner aka Billy the Kid often told funny jokes to get rivals (and witnesses) at gunfights laughing, instead of focusing on a gun he was about to kill them with.
This movie portrays an accurate style of a gun-fight with Billy the Kid:

(15,235 posts)1.6 Billion Rounds Of Ammo For Homeland Security? It's Time For A National Conversation
he Denver Post, on February 15th, ran an Associated Press article entitled Homeland Security aims to buy 1.6b rounds of ammo, so far to little notice. It confirmed that the Department of Homeland Security has issued an open purchase order for 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition. As reported elsewhere, some of this purchase order is for hollow-point rounds, forbidden by international law for use in war, along with a frightening amount specialized for snipers. Also reported elsewhere, at the height of the Iraq War the Army was expending less than 6 million rounds a month. Therefore 1.6 billion rounds would be enough to sustain a hot war for 20+ years. In America.
Add to this perplexing outré purchase of ammo, DHS now is showing off its acquisition of heavily armored personnel carriers, repatriated from the Iraqi and Afghani theaters of operation. As observed by paramilblogger Ken Jorgustin last September: http://www.forbes.com/sites/ralphbenko/2013/03/11/1-6-billion-rounds-of-ammo-for-homeland-security-its-time-for-a-national-conversation/#3c15f01d5e01
These armored vehicles and hollow point rounds are interesting deterrents for weapons or drug smugglers and kidnappers, involved in human trafficking of future sex-slaves. These organized Cartels (aka crime syndicates) flaunt both sides of the Mexican Border.

Do as anyone think Putin, the physically fit black belt is in any way intimidated by Obama?
I despise this macho male based b.s. more than anyone and while I am in Obama's corner with his suave, intellectual style and intelligence, Putin is not a slacker in that respect either.
Let us not forget that Putin has zero issues with cold blooded murder and the use of power to achieve his goals.
Finally, this is probably all bread and circuses for all us poor schlub's consumption anyway.

(2,061 posts)I am absolutely being snarky. I love the man as well but I do not worship him;feet of clay and all that. I received the same pic from my wingnut relatives and they thought President Obama was scared of Putin. I do not even want to attempt to address what their admiration for a tyrannical thug is about but he showed up Obama in their eyes as they march to the camps. These are the people who think Trump is actually intelligent and while he is not as dumb as GWB he is not Obama either, nowhere near.
I put this in the same category of people, who no matter what Obama does, say he is playing 3d chess and is always right.
I am sorry, but being religious, there is only one person who is always right and perfect. That person being me.

(128,958 posts)There is something I remember learning in various training sessions and workshops over the decades, about how one invokes a "power play" - and the above is one example. I.e., using imposing height to an advantage. In fact, what has been noted that you will often see is those in high positions of power, choosing to "meet" from behind their imposing desk or sitting at the head of a table (versus creating a circle to put everyone on "equal footing" . In other situations, the higher level individual might be seated on a taller stool or otherwise on some platform above the plebes.

I think in this case, we don't have any problem deciding who's the angel and who's the representative of Satan - figuratively speaking.
