(37,748 posts)On the other hand, this is the first time since the eighties I've seen a campaign ad for a Dem nominee to the Presidency in DFW (north central Texas) since the mid or late eighties. I stayed in this past weekend, and the afternoons were filled with her "Just One Wrong Move" campaign ad among three or four different stations. And no Trump commercials at all here.
(Caveat: I don't have cable, only network TV so that may make a pretty big difference in what I see)
I'm really beginning to wonder if Texas might actually be in play this cycle. If the DNC is investing money here, and Trump's buffoonish campaign keeps consistently tripping up, who knows?!

(60,010 posts)It's the first time the newspaper has supported a Democratic candidate since before World War II.
"Résumé vs. résumé, judgment vs. judgment, this election is no contest," the editorial board writes, calling Trump's values "hostile to conservatism."
"He plays on fearexploiting base instincts of xenophobia, racism, and misogynyto bring out the worst in all of us, rather than the best," the op-ed continues. "His serial shifts on fundamental issues reveal an astounding absence of preparedness. And his improvisational insults and midnight tweets exhibit a dangerous lack of judgment and impulse control."

(37,748 posts)That's been the big water cooler discussion here lately. Mon-Wed all three of the major network's local affiliates either lead with that endorsement, or had it in the number two or three spot.
Two years ago, Wendy Davis woke up many TX Democrats from our long, lethargic slumber, and I think it may be beginning to pay off.

(268,997 posts)and no I have not called the number

(617 posts)The 1800 number is like some robocall, begging for $$$. The fact that they styled it like some low-budget infomercial kind of lets you know the age cohort and demographic they are aiming for. Caucasian, seniors, etc - in general.

a multitude of questions, but really Trump oriented "Would you vote for someone with extensive business background or someone who has no background in the private sector" . Another - "Does someone not disclosing their e-mails influence your vote?" - "Do you favor America becoming stronger again?" "Do you believe someone who makes a large speaking fee can be influenced by the money they receive for that speech"
I stuck with it and made it clear who I was voting for. But, this is really the first time I got exposed to such a "survey" and appreciate how it can sway someone.

(24,764 posts)I propose we fight fire with fire and come up with push polls of our own.
Here are some of my ideas:
"Would you vote for someone who's standing trial for raping a 13-year-old girl--who had witnesses?"
"Does someone bribing two state attorneys general influence your vote"?
"Do you believe someone who stiffs his campaign workers and forces them to sign a non-disparagement agreement is trustworthy enough to manage our tax money?"
"Would you trust someone who praises a foreign dictator while disrespecting the President of the United States to protect and defend the Constitution?"
