received so much backlash, the candidate spent most of yesterday doing damage control in interviews and statements after the show. But today, Johnson seemed renewed and ready to fire back at his critics. In speaking to Connell McShane on Imus in the Morning Friday, Johnson not only continued to take ownership for his mistake, but made a very good point about one of his rivals. While still taking responsibility for the fact that hed messed up, Johnson posed this question to America:
There is an incredible double standard going on here, and Im okay with that. Its the way that it should be. Has Donald Trump not said 150 things that should disqualify? If this is one thing, hasnt he said 150 of those things?
Johnson drew attention to the fact that Trump doesnt only make offensive statements he repeatedly spreads information that is flat-out FALSE for the sake of fear-mongering and misleading people. Johnson said that although hed temporarily gone blank in speaking about Aleppo, at least he immediately tried to correct the situation. Trump just spews lies continuously, no matter how many times he is fact-checked or corrected. In contrast, Johnson said:
When I find myself up against fact check and I find myself wrong, Connell, I change that tomorrow because I dont want to be saying anything wrong.

(10,889 posts)Maybe he will be able to make lemonade out of his Aleppo lemon.
He needs to continue using this to get on every national program he can.
He only has about 10 days to reach 15% in an average of five polls when the debate commission will announce if he will be included in the 9/26 debate.
He is only at about 10% right now.
I, for one, do not want him in the debates.
I think it would be much better for Hillary to have Trump one on one.
I want him to be forced to talk specifics and Hillary can much easier do that without someone else on stage with them.

(36,747 posts)Drumpf will just lie and lie and lie. Not even worth watching.
I like my TV too much to watch them.
Only way I will watch is if there is a 3rd candidate in them.

(80,708 posts)but I do think he's a decent guy and you're right, when he makes a mistake he owns it and when he feels like he can learn something from someone who knows more about a topic, he acknowledges that, too.

(47,633 posts)and he probably wasn't completely awake and alert, but I've noticed that he tends to be extremely laid back and disengaged much of the time. Not a very serious candidate from my perspective.

(3,730 posts)Trump has the right to have as many double standards as he likes. Just because.

(30,058 posts)Libertarians tend to want to stay away from foreign affairs but I doubted he was putting on an act when ask the question. I am not a libertarian and do not subscribe to their vision. Don't see where having Johnson on stage would increase his votes.
