she had a new job and was dating? I think she was happy, and very surprised by the outpouring from DU for her beloved son.

and that I got to meet him in person. We kept up communication even through the period where he took a bit of a break from DU, before returning and sharing his awesomeness before he passed. Virtually holding a lit lighter in honor - even though I know an encore is impossible. To Kephra

he told me I posted something in LBN, that really should be in a different forum. Among other things he was a great guide to understanding how DU worked in those early days.

Getting to spend the better part of an hour talking with him at a regional gathering... priceless.

He did have a gravitas here - almost as though he was some sort of elder statesman.

Told me he would be looking for it.

I wish there was a way I could have gotten that book to him.
It was a book about Kenneth Anger.
Khephra seemed to know something about everything, but not in a snobby way

I believe it was people like him who set the tone that makes this place still viable after all these years.
BTW, It is also good seeing you post.

And the first thing I saw was his post. I turned on CNN and that was the beginning of the longest day. He was the eyes and ears of Latest Breaking News on DU. I think of him often.

I SO miss Khephra. He WAS DU. Period. That man must have had multiple sets of eyes to be
able to find all the news reports and post them like he did. Every once in a while, I'll see that someone
is using 'his' avatar, and my heart leaps for a moment. I have always felt like it should have been retired,
in honor of Khephra, just like they do with sports players and their jersey numbers. I remember the one time he
replied back to a thread I had started. I felt like the owner of the Internets was blessing me. He had given his
approval. I sat here beaming.

There will never be anyone else like him on here.

He was at our house for the first DU gathering along with John (5thGenDem, who has also passed.) He rode with us up to Saginaw to an annual blowout that John did every year called FunDay. We stopped in Indy to collect him, and he invited us in. He had a bedroom that he'd turned into news central. It was a thing to see. He was a sweet gentle soul with a passion for SF, and graphic novels, and some manga (but not all!) He also loved his kitties!

He loaned Kevin a copy of V for Vendetta, and then told Kevin to just keep it because he could tell Kev really enjoyed it. It resides on one of our bookshelves to this day, and always will. To this day, I think of him whenever I see a Guy Fawkes mask.

Still miss him terribly.
