North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory (R) has come under fire for passing several anti-LGBT laws. Most recently, the NCAA pulled all championship events from the state for the 2016-17 year.
The NCAA has withdrawn all championship events from North Carolina for the 2016-17 academic year because the state has passed several laws targeting the LGBT community, the organization announced Monday.
The decision will affect seven NCAA championship events, including the first and second rounds of the Division I mens basketball tournament and the womens soccer College Cup.
Fairness is about more than the opportunity to participate in college sports,

(58,654 posts)Sorry for the folks in NC. I really am. This sucks. My only fear is that somehow the Repubs blame this on the Dems. Seems like it would be hard to do, because I think the whole gov't is red, right?

(714 posts)Due to gerrymandering we have a whole lot of right wing people in office. Thankfully, the lines will be redrawn after this election. The last few years this gang has destroyed so much of this state.

(82,849 posts)Can't happen. The NCAA seems to have an unwritten rule that Duke or North Carolina has to play its first two rounds of the NCAA men's basketball tournament in North Carolina, and never leave the eastern time zone.
This could be an effective weapon against this bullshit law.
