Home Depot cofounder: 'America will go down the drain' if Hillary Clinton is elected

Home Depot cofounder Bernie Marcus says “America will go down the drain” if Hillary Clinton is elected president.

“Every indication is that America will go down the drain if in fact she is elected,” he told FOX Business Network’s Neil Cavuto in a recent interview.

“When I listen to Hillary Clinton and I listen to the {economists} who never in their life ever hired a human being or trained a human being, I say, I don’t know the world that they belong in. I know that when you have high taxes that you kill off jobs. Killing off jobs means hurting America. It means hurting the economic wealth of America — and that’s not good for anybody.”

He accused the Clintons of being a “corrupt family” and urged Republicans to vote for Donald Trump even if they don’t like him.

Marcus uses the words "every indication," but cites zero indications that doom is eminent.

Elizabeth Warren has endorsed Hillary Clinton. Might be interesting to see Marcus try to persuade us that Elizabeth Warren doesn't know anything about economics.

This is not esoteric high finance you need a CPA and a lifetime in business to understand or explain.

It's basic and simple, rendered in its essential summary:

Whether you are a tiny home business or a massive conglomerate, your income taxes are based on profits. Profits are what's left over after all costs, including all labor and hiring costs. How then do higher corporate taxes reduce hiring? One way to LOWER your taxes is to have more costs, including labor.

Now sure if somebody talked about raising FICA, he may have a point, because that's an extra tax driven by hiring. But income taxes are much higher and a far greater focus for CEOs, and they do not in any way cause companies to hire fewer people.

Precious billionaire Bernie Marcus is crowing about how he "trained and hired" people?

Let me tell you about Home Depot. It is one of the WORST places to work in retail in the US.

I was a private contractor working for a nursery and was in their stores often. Their employees worked their asses off for the lowest wages you can pay. Most were not given anywhere near fulltime hours, and their schedules were dicked around so much they were expected to be available any day of the week, any shift, so it was impossible for them to get second jobs without losing the part time Home Depot jobs.

A delivery dude with a semi tried to come into the lumber lot one day, even when the gal in the booth told the man his truck would not fit under the gate--- repeatedly. I heard her tell him to go around to the proper dock over and over, because I was right there doing inventory on shrubs. Dude tries to drive in anyway -- you could see he was one of those men who insist women know nothing and his lame ass knows it all -- and shears the bracing at the gate and the top of his truck, scaring the fuck out of all of us and putting us all at risk.

They fired the gal. She was crying and sought me out the day they let her go (I became the defacto counselor for a lot of the fired and mistreated workers) because she had a child to support and didn't understand why SHE got fired over that asshole truckdriver's idiocy. I saw so many people treated like shit at Home Depot, but the stores each rely on the fools who have no life, who LIVE for their Home Depot apron pins and pats on the head from the manager. As long as they have those core sycophants to piss on fires, they don't need to care about any of their other workers.

HOME DEPOT TREATS ITS WORKERS LIKE CRAP

The second way Home Depot is a scourge on humanity is the amount of crap they are dumping in our landfills. Managers don't like sales. They prefer to keep their stores full of overpriced garbage looking pristine and clean by loading their enormous trash compacters with so much waste, I would sometimes go home at night and cry about it. It was that bad.

They could have donated items, but no. I regularly had to stuff a dozen whole trees, fifty shrubs and hundreds of flats of bedding plants in their dumpster-----and that was only ONE DAY'S LOAD. I would inevitably clog the thing and have to ask one of the Home Depot employees to help me make it churn again. You have no idea how much other stuff was in there: cabinets, plumbing, tools, etc. If you multiply all of the stores times that level of waste, there is no question that Home Depot is using the US as its personal landfill. It is DISGUSTING and should be a CRIMINAL ACT.

Bernie Marcus is a wrinkled up waste of a heartbeat. His company is a sham, a show, and their screws and other hardware are SHIT. Go to a farm store to buy hardware and stop supporting those Big Box moguls. You'll get fasteners and bolts that actually work from a farm store or smaller hardware store.

Home Depot DOES NOT provide good jobs, good service or decent products. Home Depot DOES destroy people's hope AND heavily pollutes the United States of America.

Anyone who takes advice from Bernie Marcus is as much of an evil (but nonetheless doddering fool) as he is. He Knows NOTHING about what is best for this nation or its people, and the company he founded --HOME DEPOT -- only USES PEOPLE and DUMPS ENDLESS TRASH IN OUR LANDFILLS.

He has obviously suceeded, in spite of his personal political ideology. His business, in particular, would benefit from tax policies that reduce or eliminate taxes on the middle and lower economic classes. If a 100MM peple had an extra 2-5000 dollars in decretionary spending dollars, they will use it in places like Home Depot. And with small contractors who will also spend their money in his store. Cutting taxes for the wealthiest will mostly go to foreign investment in higher growth countries..a net loss to our economy. Sure, he'd pay more taxes...but if your net income grows 10x, why would you care? He is not a very astute commentator on social-economic policies.

True story: the air conditioner in the Home Depot I was working in decided to fail so completely it couldn't be fixed. In the middle of a North Carolina summer. Corporate decided not to replace it. (Do not ask me why they put ONE air conditioner on an 80,000 square foot building with 28-foot ceilings, but they did.)

Our sales dropped 20 percent because no one wanted to shop in our store in the heat of the day. Corporate cut employee hours to compensate for the decreased sales...and didn't replace the air conditioner.

Twenty-five employees resigned and got jobs at Lowe's because they couldn't work in an oven any longer. We got the hours back, but they didn't hire anyone new and they didn't replace the air conditioner.

Then a grandfather died - no shit, he dropped fucking dead - in the middle of the lighting aisle from a combination of no AC and 12,000 watts worth of incandescent lighting, and his family sued the company. Only then did they replace the air conditioner.

I can remember when they opened up here, a big hiring round and a co-worker's wife got a good job.

But then again, I never cared for big-box stores on the outskirts of town. I've been renovating an old building for years now so I'm a regular customer at a couple local lumber and hardware shops, but haven't gone out to Home Depot in ages. I like that the guys at the counter know my name and ask how whatever the current thing I'm on is going, and that the one that delivers always tries to fit me into the schedule even if its a small order. And I don't price-check, doesn't matter if I pay a little more.

Its odd how some of the richest people, as chain stores and big corporations tend to produce, can be so nuts. I'm happy to vote with my wallet.
