What other event happens every ... years, on schedule, with plenty of time to plan, that the media is going to have a huge hand in not only covering like a sports event, but being a part of it with debate moderators, punditry, polling. Ever see a poll on who is going to win the next Patriots game? Maybe but who cares. Polling firms make money by putting out their crap and people pay attention to them.

Pretend hillary wins by 7 points nationally and blows out the EC.

Now pretend every poll from January to Nov shows a 7 point hillary lead, accurately predicting the election all year.

Great polling right? yes!

But if everyone knows a 7 point hillary win is coming all year, who cares about the debates? or the campain rallies? or the TV ads? or the cable BLAH BLAH shows? or AM talk radio?

People will tune out, hillary wins, trump is forgotten, the world moves on and the media establishment has lost billions in ratings and advertising and people not giving a fuck about what they think.

Nope, more than anything the media needs a head to head nail biter super exciting race all the way till 2 weeks till the election when you see massive amounts of people 'making up their minds' and moving to hillary and the polling will get a little bit closer to the actual results.
