Cable is fast becoming obsolete.

There are many good dedicated channels on the 'net for sports, for free.

I only watch sports and movie channels and you need access to watch a lot of the sports programming like ESPN 3, ESPN U, the SEC or ACC network. The Fox Sports 1, etc. Big Ten Network and NBC SN. I think the Sunday Ticket is overrated but the NBA League Pass and NHL Center Ice is great but still need Fox Sports for the local teams.

I could try a free site and have where the stream was crappy or nonexistent plus there were virus ads. However on Saturday I'll have endless choices with a perfect stream.

Let's see: my 30-something daughter and husband use free tv and netflix. My 30-something son and his wife only watch downloaded movies and tv shows for the kids, and not that often at that. My other daughter, 40-something doesn't watch anything but DVDs.

My younger brother, early 50s has a Sling box for sports mainly. My other brother, early 60s watches free tv. Gee I don't think I really know anyone who actually gets cable anymore. My mom used to, because she watched Turner Classic Movies.

My parents used to watch cable but they have both passed away. My husband and I had cable or satellite for about 25 years until we woke up to the fact that it wasn't worth the money.

I haven't had a cable TV subscription since ... I don't know, 2010? I'm not into sports.

If we want to watch a movie or a show, it might come on broadcast TV, or we can download it. And there's always this fancy new-fangled DVD player. 😁

I found that I regret that I hadn't done it a long time ago.

I watch free tv with a decent antenna and I have Netflix. I pay $7.99 the cheapest streaming rate because I don't have to high the highest quality picture because I am usually multi-tasking when the TV is on anyway. I look for the $0.99 weekly movie deal on Itunes every week and if the movie appeals to me I'll rent it with 30 days to watch it.

Given the way that MSM is handling the Presidential race with obvious bias and the lack of fair and balanced reporting, why on earth would any sane person want to watch them anyway? I prefer to get my news from the internet where I have access to other news sources who cover what the US MSM won't cover.

I stopped right around this time during the 2004 election cycle. It may have even been earlier that year, whenever all the swiftboat shit started. I just couldn't take it anymore.

I'll check in on election night or big news, but.. regular? No fucking way.

Somehow I've managed to be even better informed over the past 12 years. Hmmm.

I went without cable for a decade before that. Internet sites like DU are where I get my news. I believe very little that comes from MSM. There isn't much difference between one MSM source and another. If you see one, you've seen them all.

Almost everything I watch is clips from YouTube and such. I read nearly all of my news online. However, as I spend a lot of time in various hospitals and whatnot, I do catch a few minutes of news each week from the TV turned on in waiting rooms.

TV commercials are a good indicator of the demographics of the people watching the show and a lot of the commercials are stuff for old people.

The last time I watched cable news was when I was in the hospital and there was nothing else to do except watch the hours and hours of memorializing Prince that was so obsessive it was unseemly.

I cannot stand the constant commercials. When there is real breaking news CNN will have limited commercials, so I will watch it then.

even less cable news. It's terrible. No news, no perspective, anchors know nothing at all. It's all lies and Internet gossip. The US would be embarrassed by what passes as news coverage here.

consistently. HBO has notoriously bad streaming services, and we don't want to wait ages for the DVDs to be released. Otherwise for everything else we go online. I occasionally watch CNN during election years (like this one) to hear the various commentators debate the politics but other than that we do not watch anything else on cable regularly. But yes we have it -- I think gen Xers and some millennials have it as people often have high speed internet through their cable services. But they don't watch it regularly -- a lot of shows w/regular hosts (like the Fox News lineup) have an overwhelmingly older audience (the average Fox viewership is like in their seventies)
