(24,412 posts)think that every attack is some kind of "positive" for them, politically, especially since 3000 people died in one attack under THEIR last watch (and they killed another 4000 American soldiers for their war of choice in Iraq in response to 9/11/01)? After George W. Bush/Cheney, why would ANYBODY want to have Republicans responding to terrorism? It's sickening that Republicans are practically hoping for terrorist attacks over here (or against Americans) to get their guy into the WH. Weird, sick s**t happens all of the time but that's not a reason to pull a lever for the Republican candidate, especially one as crazy and potentially dangerous as Trump.

(21,753 posts)Trump acts like war is as casual an exercise as a round of golf.
He has already pledged to order military to commit torture and murder families of "combatants". He has mused about using our military as pirates and pillagers to seize territory and resources from other nations. He talks about starting wars over insults and slights.
And who needs a Commander In Chief who at any time may backtrack on his commands by saying "Hey, I was just being sarcastic!"?

(1,975 posts)Of course it is just anecdotal to the people I know. But most of them think Trump is a psychopath and cant stand him. On the other hand, quite a few of them are still pissed off at Hillary's handling of Classified information and nothing happening. Sure normally the military votes Republican, but I think it wont be as high in the past. The guys I know are either voting for Johnson or Clinton. Still though, quite a few of the younger guys are gonna vote for Trump.

(24,412 posts)is that, if you're in the military, sitting around with a bunch of war machines not doing anything or not blowing things up is pretty boring. This blowing up stuff tends to happen less during Democratic Administrations than in Republican ones. Ergo, they want Republicans in the WH to be able to get to use their generously taxpayer-funded "toys" more (which is why I'm pretty sure they want as many "hawks" in Congress as they can vote for as well). Peace isn't something that "benefits" a standing military much.
