Three college white women accused of racism and bullying: "Locked the black bitch out"

The University of North Dakota said on Wednesday that it was investigating a racist social media post that allegedly shows white students locking a black student out of her own dorm room, according to the Grand Forks Herald.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, UND student Etonde Maloke shared a photo of three laughing white students in a dorm room. The photo includes the caption, “Locked the black bitch out.”

“My friend left her phone in her room and the three kids pictured below took her phone and took the snapchat pictured below,” Maloke explained. “They captioned it ‘locked the black bitch out’. My friend was not aware that they had done this and didn’t even realize they had put this on her snapchat story until another friend of ours pointed it out.”

“We all know Racism is alive and well (whether you like to admit it not),” she lamented. “When said acts of racism happen at your school, it is infuriating and heart breaking.”

In a statement posted to Twitter, the University of North Dakota said that it was aware of the incident and was “in the process of gathering information.”

“What is portrayed is not part of the community values that we expound,” the statement said. “We take seriously issues related to respect for all.”

And yet the half-wits consistently tell us that college students should be exposed to this so-called free speech as practice for the "real world"™, and if they dislike it or do not want to be around it, it's only because they are "precious snowflakes."

While I loathe the actions of these women and respect your opinion and right to preference in a roommate, I think it is patently unfair to infer that all, or most white roommates would hate on you.

that makes it a risk that one may want to avoid. As someone who has experienced multiple instances of race-based housing discrimination in a supposedly liberal city, I've learned that it is safest to ensure that the person I am renting from or may be living with is another person of color. Even without actively trying, it has generally been the case that I end up living with other people of color or white people who are in relationships with, of have family members who are, people of color. These are the people who have been comfortable with living with me. So, I have learned that it's safest to focus on other PoC when seeking housing. There's no simple way to suss out if the white person I am dealing with is PoC-friendly and one ends up wasting a lot of time and emotional energy trying to find the one that is not too racist to share a home with or rent to you.

I'm for diversity and open-minded inclusion as a general perspective but I certainly can't blame people for being wary of this sort of bullshit.

based on race. I wouldn't hate, period, and if I didn't like my roommate, it would be because of personality or character.

A black woman assigned to be my roommate would have no way of knowing that, though. I don't think it's too much to ask that students feel safe in the private space they have to share; the space they'll be sleeping and living in.

How proud they must be, but I'll bet they're not laughing so much now that they're in the news.

I'm from that area and it is very homogenous, almost entirely German and Scandinavian. I doubt any of them personally knew a black person before they went to college. A lot of racism is based on ignorance and unconscious prejudice rather than conscious malicious hate.

call a person a "black bitch." Not in any way. Those three young women are just "mean girls." They suffer from a huge overabundance of privilege and stupidity.

I hope this goes national and their faces are broadcast nationwide. Let them learn that their insular privilege counts for nothing.

What's not fair is their attitudes to whoever is not them. They would do the same to anyone who did not meet their narrow, privileged standards. I know people who are like those three. They live everywhere. It has nothing to do with their knowledge of racial issues. It has to do only with their shallowness and stupidity.

The Red River Valley is pretty much completely homogeneous German and Scandinavian by ancestry, they probably had no clue how offensive and racially insensitive this actually was and I hope they learn something from this crap they pulled.
