And one of the things you can count on in life is that little fish do not allow themselves to swallowed up while the big fish goes free. It is pretty clear that Christie is the main target of prosecutors.

The trial has started. The time for that kind of deal has come and gone.
As things stand, the defendants have no motivation to protect Christie anyway, since they would want to shift as much blame to him as possible, absent any kind of deal.
