I think its a problem, anybody who disrespects this country and the flag, the longtime NFL coach said in a radio interview on KRLD-FM in Dallas. If they dont like the country, if they dont like our flag, get the hell out. Thats what I think.
I have no respect for Colin Kaepernick. He probably has no respect for me, thats his choice. My choice is that I like this country, I respect our flag, and I dont see all the atrocities going on in this country that people say are going on.
I see opportunities if people want to look for opportunity. Now if they dont want to look for them, then you can find problems with anything, but this is the land of opportunity because you can be anything you want to be if you work. Now if you dont work, thats a different problem.

(6,399 posts)Why wave your ignorance around like Ditka then?
Five seconds of google and you'd know.
Millions and millions of others know who he is however.
I absolutely hate posts like this. They scream "I don't know who famous people are, lookit me, I'm special."

(6,399 posts)When you get so many people around here on such regularity trying to show how "cool" they are by not knowing famous people, you really do get tired of their fucking ignorance and/or ability to find information out for themselves.

and no, I don't get tired of answering a question or guidance of how to get that information.
and I don't snap at people for ignorance, I'd rather help than espouse my superiority

Seriously, it doesn't take much more to type "old football guy, used to be somebody" than "google is your friend". Ooooh! HAving just typed that gave me a rush! I need to go enjoy the moment!

(6,587 posts)basically played College, NFL football, probably best known as the coach for the Chicago Bears for several years & sports announcer, other than that as his attack on Kapernick pretty much an ass as well but you won't find that in the Wiki.
Hey, hang in there & have a good day.

Eh? Not going to get 'outraged' about this. We have bigger issues in the next few weeks than this guy's 'look at me I'm special' statement.

(10,168 posts)the only coach to take them to a Super Bowl victory. He's in the football Hall of Fame and extremely well known among even casual football fans. He's done several t.v. commercials over the years and is included, at least once, and parodied in the well known SNL skit "Da Bears."
As an avid Packer football fan, when he first came out a couple of years ago spouting racism about President Obama I was completely shocked! I still am quite honestly, and now this. He's definitely part of the hippie hating, America, love it or leave crowd from way back, but for me, this adds a new layer of ugly. My first thought was that he has brain issues. Too many knocks on the head.

(50,986 posts)Mike Ditka has been an idiot in the past, there may be comfort in consistency. Because he remains an idiot to this hour.
And there's no indication that he won't be an idiot tomorrow, the next day, next week, the week after, and in ten thousand years.
More power to Colin Kaepernick.

One of my favorite things is mayonnaise and I have to tell you that. I love mayonnaise, but I don't eat it any more. If I do I put light mayonnaise on it, which I know is still not good but it's a lot better than the other one and I don't eat it that much.

You see what going on perfectly fine. The thing is is you just don't see them as atrocities. To you it's what's required to maintain the status quo which is very much in your favor.

(3,784 posts)After we were first married, my wife and I bought a house. The house was perfectly fine (our dream house, even), but a few years after we bought it, the roof started leaking. I went to my wife and said, "the roof is leaking and we need to fix it." She replied, "Well, if you hate this house so much, why don't you just get the hell out?" I didn't hate the house or anyone in it. I just wanted the roof to stop leaking. Her response was an irrational response. And it did nothing to stop the leak.

Makes me think immigration should be performed on a roughly-equal basis. 1000 in, 1000 out. Then each nation could be populated by people who wanted to be under their society's culture and immigration wouldn't decimate wages for the entire world.
Of course, that wouldn't decimate wages for the entire world, so we'll never see it happen.

(2,785 posts)"You can be anything you can be anything you want to be if you work" Really! So if your 5"10 and 120 lbs you can be an NFL football player? Yeah right. Ask just about anyone in the NFL if anybody that works hard enough can can play in that league regardless of their physical limitations. And I'm pretty sure most will say no.
Mike Ditka was a football player and a football coach. Most if not all other jobs he had were football related. He did not become successful through hard work alone. He apparently lives in a bubble sense all his success springs from a natural talent he had to begin with and most people don't have that.
