General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsIt's without saying tonight we'll see the most unqualifed candidate to ever stand on a debate stage.
For the general election, at least. (There were no formal presidential debates before 1960).
Ross Perot was an eccentric businessman with no prior elected experience, but at least he had some semblance of knowing what he was talking about (whether you agreed with him or not).
John Anderson (who debated Reagan but not Carter) at least had some background in elected politics and at least could be taken semi-seriously.
We all know George W. Bush was a lightweight intellectually, but he did have 4 years as Texas governor and a sense that he probably attempted reading the briefing books his staff gave him before awkwardly trying to regurgitate them on stage.
Trump absolutely Trumps them all. The fact that this man will be on stage as a potential leader of this country frankly is a disgrace. He has proven nothing in either his background or in the past year that he's been running for president that he has demonstrated any legitimate reason why he should be our next president.
Frankly, the mere fact that he will be standing on stage tonight is an enormous embarrassment to our country. Obviously, the show must go on but if anyone watching tonight can't logically and objectively see that one of these people is qualified to lead our country and the other person most definitely is grossly unqualified, it would be a sad day indeed. I'm confident in saying this before a single question is asked.
Trump should be a joke. He ought to be laughed off stage.
