Young Girl Tearfully Explains Why Charlotte Feels The Need To Protest
She may be small in size, but Zianna Oliphant had some powerful words for the Charlotte City Council on Monday night.
Its a shame that our fathers and mothers are killed and we cant see them anymore, she said through tears. Its a shame that we have to go to their graveyard and bury them. And we have tears, and we shouldnt have tears. We need our fathers and mothers to be by our side.
Oliphants emotional testimony came during a tense city council meeting the first since a Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer fatally shot 43-year-old Keith Scott, sparking mass protests throughout the city. The childs words brought a number of attendees to tears, according to The Associated Press.
We do this because we need to and have rights.
