Karma Is A B*tch: It’s Looking Like Marla Maples Leaked Trump’s Taxes – And It Was Totally Legal

Following the mysterious arrival of a package containing Donald Trump’s 1995 tax returns at the doorstep of the New York Times, the big question was who sent it?

The package itself offered very few clues. It had no name on it. The return address was – in a masterclass of trolling – Trump Tower. The journalist whose mailbox it landed in wasn’t even aware it was coming.

Trump’s supporters were thrown into a frenzy. Many hypocritically began to suddenly think leaked information is out-of-bounds. (Remember their delight when Wikileaks handed over illegally obtained DNC emails? They sure don’t!) Trump went ballistic.

While many Americans speculated that it was one of Trump’s closest advisers looking to tank his campaign from the inside, or his daughter looking for a little payback, the most compelling theory that’s come around has to be Trump’s ex-wife, Marla Maples. There are a LOT of clues pointing to her. And she certainly has a lot of (justifiable) motives, having been not only kicked to the curb but also threatened by Trump with financial ruin if she publicly jeopardized his campaign. Oh and then there is the fact that Trump was such a scumbag while they were married that he leaked his divorce to tabloids before telling Marla. She had to read about it with the rest of the world.

The fact that it might also contain information about Trump is just a coincidence.

But it is illegal to reveal Fed tax return. No doubt that's why only NY, NJ and CT leaked. Bankers, lawyers, divorce attorneys, business partners, casino regulators, lots of people had copies.

I am certain they have an NDA.

However, the optics of attempting to enforce it are SO bad, that the damage from attempting to enforce it would compound the damage from the disclosure itself.

I first heard it on Thom Hartmann's show when Victoria Jones of Talk Radio News reported it to Thom. She's always accurate with her reporting and I'm glad to hear it's made it's way into the general media. Betcha The Con is really ticked at her!

The anger of ex-wives should never ignored. Payback is....as they say.

Here's why!

1) Trump never denied it wasn't his tax return.
2) Trump needed some else to take the heat of him for the comments over Ms. Universe.
3) Trump's surrogates are calling him brilliant for loosing all that money.
Finally 4) Trump has been saying that he is a smart business person and leaking the tax return makes his point to the Trumper clan!

That they were trying to get out ahead of the "not releasing taxes" stories, using this "leak" to explain why he was actually a business genius.

The thinking being that, if they released it, they could control the narrative. However, it seems to be backfiring. Instead of crafty businessman who smartly used a screwed up tax code, they got asshole who managed to lose a billion dollars in a boom year in the casino industry and then passed on his bad debt to regular people who actually have to work for a living.

Billion dollar loser.

The funny thing is that they have the balls to talk about what morality is while behaving like shit-heels.

It reminds me of my brother who liked to give lectures on the sanctity of marriage to my father who remarried after my mother died.

He cheated on every wife he had, and last I heard - I cut him off - he's on wife #3, who was, by the way, 35 years younger than him.

He didn't just cheat on his wives. He cheated everyone he ever knew. We recently had fun at a family reunion comparing how much money for which he rolled each of us. He's probably a Republican. He's a smarmy and sanctimonious liar, like Trump, like Guliani.

Marla is simply due a little in my book. While she wasn't a saint, she has done a good job of raising her daughter OUT of the Trump umbrella. She could have capitalized on things a lot more than she has, and I give her credit for that.

But...I wouldn't count Ivana out either. After all, her slogan was "Don't get mad. Get everything!"

Sounds like the dumbest strategy to win an election that anyone could possibly try. He could also release a snuff film of him murdering a prostitute to divert attention but its not going to help him get elected either.

His whole career has been selling the idea that he is rich and his businesses do well under his leadership. Losing $1billion in one year, when every other business was seeing record profits, destroys his reputation. If he just wanted out, all he would have to do is refuse to debate any more and spend all of his time and money in deep red states.

No, i think its far more likely that someone that is out to get him (as seth Meyers pointed out there is an almost endless list of such people) and had documents that could absolutely destroy him, so they sent them to NYT. And it happened late enough that it wont really blow over by election day. The damage is already deep and widespread from this. If they had a way to counter it or it was a flase flag operation, they sure seem to have missed the boat on actually minimzing the damage. It seems more likely they were caught with their pants down because they are incompetent.

Trump has a long list of people he has crossed. It was almost certainly one of them.

So what if he hits her? He's rich, so she just needs to shut up and just cry all the way to the bank. As long as she's provided for handsomely, she has no right to question or complain about his violence.

You think that money is something that should make up for abuse, and take away the abused's right to "complain?"

That sounds an awful lot like people see the relationship between sex worker and john.

in reference to Trump, who provided some of that money. ($2 million as per the pre-nup) she also appeared in movies and on television, so no, that wasn't all Donald's doing. ) And that is exactly what many people said about Janay Rice.

He is a serial adulterer, he has been abusive to employees - especially female employees, Ivanka talked about him raping her.

He is abusive to women in his attitudes, as have been shown numerous times in this campaign.

When she threatened to "tell people what he is really like" when he first talked about running, he threatened to withold the remaining 1.5 million of the divorce settlement. That's how much he feared what she would say.

Do you think that any woman who has a specific amount of money has no reason to complain about her treatment at the hands of her husband? What is the minimum $ amount you think is required to shut a woman up from 'complaining'?
