He also said that only one of those guns is even assembled and that David Fry hasn’t ever really shown an interest in guns; he described his son as being more interested in computers.

... Before testimony began, though, Judge Anna J. Brown allowed some video of the armed standoff outside Cliven Bundy’s Bunkerville, Nevada ranch in 2014 to be entered as evidence.

Judge Brown explained the video could be used as evidence to corroborate Ammon Bundy’s expected testimony about the impact of the event and how it affected his state of mind prior to the Malheur occupation.

Later, in the jury’s absence, Judge Brown told the court she would allow the argument to be made that Bundy and other Malheur occupiers expected law enforcement to use force against them, because of what happened in Bunkerville.

The defense will be able to argue that Bundy armed himself and asked other occupiers to carry weapons during the occupation, not in an effort to impede federal workers, but to exercise their second amendment right in case force was used against them, like it was in Bunkerville ...

9. I wonder why the delayed putting Ammon on the stand?

It's not like he had some other more pressing engagement.

But it's nice that David Fry's father testified on his son's behalf. As to the "injustices" faced by ranchers, it would be nice to have a little list. Cliven Bundy seems to be mooching just fine off of public lands.

As for ranchers' interests on public lands, the use of those lands has been hammered out over decades of negotiating among the various stakeholders, including the government (which is the ultimate steward of the land), ranchers, outdoor enthusiasts, hunters, birders, hikers, and taxpayers. The Bundy Radical Terrorists want to cut through all those agreements and move to the head of the line and too bad for the rest of you, because they want first dibs. Bunch of selfish babies.

U.S. District Court Judge Anna Brown said she will allow the defense to develop that theory before the jury. However, Brown added the theory does not address the main charge all of the defendants face — that they conspired to impede federal workers from doing their jobs by using threats, force or intimidation.

... Chris Briels ... explained what he described as suspicious activity by people near the armory in Burns, who he later discovered were federal agents. Briels testified he would sometimes follow them and call the police ...
