'Clown Lives Matter' march planned for Oct. 15 in Tucson

This should be a nationwide happening; kind of like zombie walks, naked bike rides and bare your breasts events.

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Organizers are planning a "Clown Lives Matter" march for October 15 in Tucson in reaction to the recent spate of frightening incidents -- both real and imagined -- spread in the news and on social media.

The march will be at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 15 on 4th Avenue in Tucson. Attendees are invited to show up wearing full clown makeup or masks.

According to a flyer advertising the event, "this is a peaceful way to show clowns are not psycho killers. We want the public to feel safe, and not be afraid. So come out, bring the family, meet a clown and get a hug!"

But there's no doubt quite a few ass-clowns in that bunch who will take the CLM concept in an ugly direction.

It's probably best no to make light of a movement with such a serious purpose.

I think the whole "evil clown" thing is the media eating its own tail, oroborous-like (does anyone NOT believe the only reason there's a "scary clown epidemic" is because of reporting on the "scary clown epidemic"?) .. still, they should find a less obnoxious way to make their point. No one is shooting clowns at traffic stops.

They did it via Facebook, with clown images, threatening to kidnap and kill fellow students.
that is against the law, they got arrested, made the front page.

but the "scary clown" thing is completely media generated. Here's how it works. Someone, at some point, was either fucking around in a clown costume or else someone made a hoax report about someone fucking around in a clown costume. Media reports on it. Some people- probably teens- go "ha, that's funny, let's do that". Rinse, repeat.

Most of the "Scary clowns" - like the video of the one at the gas station; just someone in a clown costume. Standing there. Says "have a good night" when someone approaches him. Yawn.

There's nothing illegal about dressing in a weird costume. I remember once, as a wayward youth, I walked around town in a gorilla suit, just to see how people would react. It was kind of fun.

Of course, making threats IS illegal, but again the "clown" aspect is people taking this media phenomenon and running with it.

Just like the KKK hoods but in a way that no-one takes them seriously. My worry is that some of these assholes may be buried in with those that hoax.

You cannot tell who the face is under the hood. You cannot tell who the face is under the mask. Or whiteface. Before, all they did was dress this way and stand around. Now they are openly mocking a civil rights movement.
