At the end of Kilgore's piece is a quote by Jerry Fallwell, Jr. - in which he pushes this "theory".

For me, this raises a big question of what happens inside the GOP after Trump loses (which it is looking more and more likely to be the scenario.)

Right now some of those following Trump are willing to go to war with the party (remember the old saying "Dance with he that brung ya?&quot - are viciously turning on "he that brung ya". Not just the trump ralley attendee - but leaders of groups that have long been part of the traditional GOP coalition. Think about that spontaneous protest after Ryan's conference yesterday with GOP house members.

Are the Jerry Fallwell, Jr.s really ready to walk away from the post-Trump-loss GOP - because it will still exist (at least for a while). Because that is what following Trump - at this point - now requires - biting and shredding those members of the "Establishment" in a more direct way than just Trump's over the top rhetoric.

Who do they align with in the aftermath? Does the "Freedom Caucus" become its own party? I think the crack up has just begun and is going to be very ugly. And in a bomb throwing blow up the party on purpose sort of way. All to fuel the ego of a flailing Donald Trump.

Oh, and pass the popcorn.
