As I've posted a bit elsewhere I'm a nervous wreck. Have been for a week.
Tonight I have an almost kid like Christmas Eve feeling. It's finally FINALLY almost here.
I made the mistake of listening to the radio and hearing about the RCP election map.

I still feel giddy. I know how this should turn out but, as always, I'm concerned.
Well in the morning we will have the first votes.
I am so glad this is almost over.

(46,166 posts)How they start us off. And here in Colorado it's not so late in the evening so we always watch their results. No matter how they vote it's the official start of tallies.
p.s. My reply to you is my 39k posting here at DU!!!
Yes it's so a New England quaint thing.

(182,829 posts)Funny, the media doesn't do the Iowa causcis at Mildred's house anymore. I hadn't heard about Dixville Notch - that's a standard election report usually with video. We'll see.

(54,256 posts)"Dixville Notch is an unincorporated community in Dixville township of Coos County, New Hampshire, United States. The population of the township, all of whom live in Dixville Notch, was 12 at the 2010 census.[1] The village is known for being one of the first places to declare its results during United States presidential elections and the New Hampshire primary.[3] It is located in the far north of the state, approximately 20 miles (30 km) from Canada.
The village is named for the Dixville Notch mountain pass (or "notch," in White Mountains terminology) about 0.5 miles (800 m) southeast of and 100 feet (30 m) uphill from it, that lies between Dixville Peak and Sanguinary Mountain, and separates the Connecticut River's watershed from that of the Androscoggin."
