A Message From Gov. Andrew Cuomo (NY)

https://www.facebook.com/andrewcuomo/posts/10154315372533401

America was built on the promise that all of us were created equal and should be treated equally. In the days since the election, that promise has been threatened.

In the last few days, we have heard reports from all across the state of hateful and cruel behavior intended to threaten our fellow New Yorkers — from a baseball field in upstate's Allegany County to a parking lot in Long Island's Suffolk County, and just yesterday on a subway train in New York City.

Let me be absolutely clear: These acts of hate are not who we are in New York. We are better than this.

I promise that New York will be a refuge to any and all under attack, and that’s a promise I intend to keep.

As Governor, I ordered my administration to investigate these disgusting actions. As a New Yorker, I’m asking for your help to put a stop to this bigotry.

If you are experiencing oppression, notify the authorities or call our newly launched hotline at (1-888-392-3644). If you see one of your fellow New Yorkers being threatened or harassed, speak up for them. If you see someone hurting, reach out and ask if you can help.

For any of us to remain silent is to permit this disgusting behavior.

We have different sexual and gender identities, but we are one state.

We believe in many religions, but we are one people.

We come from countless cultures, but we are all New York.

We have stood against hatred and discrimination before, and it’s up to all of us to do it again.
