(20,491 posts)Raise corp. tax rates to a point where it is cheaper to hire a person than to pay the taxes on the money otherwise saved.
Lucy Goosey
(2,940 posts)...I suggested a tax-based disincentive for off-shoring jobs. Also, I suggested giving tax breaks to companies that actually create jobs in a given year, instead of giving them the tax breaks up front and hoping they will create jobs.
I also, for no reason other than to amuse myself, suggested in the immigration question that an electrified fence should be built along the Canadian border, so they will probably be able to recognize that I am not really one of their people. (Unless they take the comment seriously, and decide to run with it - that would be awesome.)

4. What measures are likely to create jobs? (Check as many as you wish.)
Other:
Restore tax rate structure to one closer to Cold War standards
That would be with high progressivity and high marginal rates
5. Do you have a cultural or social policy concern not mentioned here? If so, what is it?
Excessive direct influence of religious institutions on civil affairs
Bishops are not supposed to be lobbyists
Which three political leaders do you most admire?
Lincoln, T. Roosevelt, Eisenhower
If you have to stick to Republicans, you might as well use the ones that were worth anything.

I chose Lincoln, Eisenhower, and Goldwater. I would have traded Goldwater for Teddy easily. How the hell didn't I think of it.

(28,794 posts)with their fucking loaded questions. should people be free to raise their children as they wish?
Xyzse
(8,217 posts)Since quite a few of the multiple choice answers are too dumb to consider.
I mean, just the first question, most of the choices are unreasonable.
Then on Healthcare, it gives 3 choices, Yes, No, Undecided, but I am more towards "Editing".
Question 4 is crazy, none of the choices will really make a difference. So I just placed something short like:
"One can reduce the corporate tax rate but get rid of loop holes and make it so that corporations cannot hide their assets in other countries to evade taxes. Cut it further for those that grow jobs in the US and take away benefits from those that off-shore heavily. One can improve R&D and create more favorable terms in research grants where profit from a product that we funded goes back to the tax payers."
I can't agree with the other methods.
In terrorism, I have to credit the current methods for dealing with Iran. Unlike before, the US has built enough of a consensus that Iran is being even more isolated and having a harder time dealing with their economy. Also, with the current drop in gas prices, it is slowly making them even more irrelevant.
Augh, too over-simplistic it is ticking me off.
Values and the Family:
"I believe that all marriages are civil unions and should be treated as such, marriage is the purview of religion and should not be legislated at all. Government has a lot of more pressing concerns, they shouldn't even be touching this. The school system may be drastically be improved if one allocates a specific value of federal dollars per child instead of the way things are. The current method punishes teachers for being in bad areas giving them low marks when there are a lot of other underlying issues that needs to be addressed rather than just testing. Private organizations have the right to adhere to traditional values as long as it does not affect public service. While parents have the right to raise their children the way they want barring abuse."
LOL "Which three political leaders do you most admire"
Ron Paul, Nancy Pelosi, Brazil's President.
Hrm...

(8,217 posts)Thought that would get some attention and blow up a few brain cells.
There are a few things I can respect him in(not the main policies he espouses but more on his steadfast nature in them(even if I can agree some are dumb), and I had to at least add one Republican in there.
OneAngryDemocrat
(2,060 posts)Both Paul and his son are insane.
Xyzse
(8,217 posts)The thing with Ron and not Rand, is that he actually is consistent, which is far more than I can say for many Republicans out there.
When he is anti-war, there is a full justification to his view-point that is in line with his ideals. It is why he bucks the trend on the actual Republican party and is not fully accepted by the ranks either.
Stating that, would I vote for him? NO, but the question was a matter of respect. I can respect the way he is without agreeing with him. Much like I can have no respect for someone who espouses views that I agree with if they are in a leadership position and weak about it, like Harry Reid.
It is why I respect Pelosi who fought during her tenure as Speaker of the House, while castigated Reid who was merely whining.
OneAngryDemocrat
(2,060 posts)Is THAT the consistency you're talkling about?

(8,217 posts)It is just that I tend to believe in enlightened self interest, where one should be mindful of how one's interests affects others. Though of course I am more for a live and let live policy.
I am all for personal liberty and all, but I have to consider how my actions affects others. In some ways, some of the libertarian ideals don't take in to account.
Which is why I have mentioned, I can respect and admire what he says being consistent and so forth, even if I wouldn't agree with him in many ways.

Prosecute the CEOs/owners of companies that hire illegal immigrants - that would stop the hiring of illegal immigrants - no jobs available - no illegal immigration.
What should we do about the estimated 12 million illegal immigrants in the U.S.?
Of course they are talking about those South of the border - so I put.....
Follow up on those who have over stayed their visas and deport.
Your 2012 Election Year Survey has been Received!
Thank you for filling out your Heritage Foundation 2012 National Election Year Survey.
Well tabulate your answers and use the results in our work with candidates for office so that they know where conservative like you stand on these crucial issues.
As you know, America faces many grave problems, from unprecedented spending and debt levels that are leading to bankruptcy to cuts to our military that make us less safe, and a record number of oppressive job-killing regulations that are doing unfathomable damage to our economy.
Thats why The Heritage Foundation is fighting back against the lefts radical agenda. Our experts are working tirelessly to spread our conservative message to members of Congress and grassroots Americans through a flood of op-eds, reports, and blog posts, frequent appearances on national TV and radio programs, events with members of Congress and policy experts, and much more.
