Can someone explain WTF is going on with Dershowitz?
On Edit: I know a lot of us on the left think Israel is heavy handed including a crap load of Jewish folks like Jon Stewart who have been very critical of Netanyahu. I get the sense that because he supports Israel 100% that he tries to gas light the left who ask questions about how heavy handed Israel can be. It's intellectually dishonest on his part. I am sure there are some anti-Semitic's on the far left but the bulk of liberals have zero problem with Jewish folks but serious problems with Netanyahu and the treatment of Palestine. They are two very different issues.

(6,427 posts)Just because he's Jewish, doesn't meant that he's rational on this topic. I'm sure there's some other agenda in his mind that allows all this to make sense. And, as your question implies, it's likely an outlier agenda relative to the bulk of the Jewish community in the US. That said, there are women who say Bannon isn't sexist, there are African Americans who say Bannon isn't racists, hell...there are probably Muslims who aren't sure that he's Islamophoic.
My point is, just because someone is a ____________ (fill in the blank), that doesn't mean they understand the -ism that affects their community.
Personally - I think Dershowitz is an ass.

(58,724 posts)If he thinks you are pro-Israel, then you are not anti-semitic.
If he thinks you are anti-Israel, then you are.
That's pretty much it.

(9,227 posts)Why Ellison? He could generate the same kind of backlash as Obama. He doesn't present a good argument when he is on MSNBC. There are others to choose from. A passionate full time person.

(29,082 posts)I personally like him but he would be an easy target and we should look elsewhere.
