When Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman and Samuel Jackson, all consistently good actors, deliver below average performances, then maybe the blame needs to be placed on the director, who also wrote the script.

I feel bad for Hayden Christensen, prior to Star Wars he had a reputation as a good actor, I wonder if he regrets doing Star Wars.

...being a mumbly-mouthed, creepy-obsessed broody-boy (which apparently didn't change over the decades between his initial concept and the making of the prequels)...

...and put it together with Carrie's anecdote of Lucas telling her she had to be bra-less when playing Leia because "they don't have bras in space" (insert something about how breasts supposedly act in zero-g, which would be irrelevant anyway in a setting where all the ships have artificial gravity)...

...and all of a sudden there is some serious TMI about George.

Awful in SW 2. Maybe part of it was script. I thought he was stiff and hard to listen to. I was surprised Portman or McGregor could deliver anything.

I'll stand by my premise that when established, quality actors like Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman and Samuel Jackson all deliver sub-par performances, then maybe it's not the actors, but the quality of the script and director that is at fault.

And I agree that Christensen was bad in the role, I just happen to think the cause wasn't him.

Would have been the actor from the film Cruel Intentions, his arrogance and ultimate sadness were played in perfect combination, and that's what Lucas' lovelorn, fallen Jedi was supposed to be. The script didn't help. Lucas is a visionary, but he can't write for shit.

Short fused, angry, desperate, vengeful. It was set up in SW 1 with Yoda calling his training dangerous.
