(16,110 posts)good that President Obama put them in place, but in a few weeks, he'll be lifting them.
Then, he can really start raking in the cash.

(111,103 posts)But in doing so, he will be telling the American people that he believes Putin and the Russians more than he believes the FBI, the CIA, and Homeland Security. And the evidence in front of him.
How does he explain that to the Republican Party?

(35,320 posts)I know people that this will inconvenience. I'm not in touch with them much any more, but they and their students fairly often have to go to Russia, which means they need to get a visa. Some arrange for guest speakers from the consulates (diplomats and the sort), or arrange to have students or faculty or invited visit their departments. Closing the consulate will be really inconvenient for a lot of them.
But Trump's going to be hurt by business restrictions. Haven't seen hide nor hair of any of those, and if he doesn't have that many of the right kinds of business connections with Russian firms that are under sanctions it doesn't matter. The economic sanctions in place don't really affect the people I know who have ties with Russia.
