Bob Goodlatte's proposal, which would place the independent Office of Congressional Ethics under the control of those very lawmakers, a move that outraged Democrats and outside ethics organizations.
The change in rules carries the appearance of House members taking power away from the office that can investigate them for misconduct, at a time when Republicans are about to have control of two branches of government with a mandate for shaking up Washington.

They took over Alabama after Obama was elected. Can't imagine why that happened.

The Republican governor was caught cheating on his wife of 50 years - who promptly divorced him - and now has impeachment hanging over his head.
"Ethics" only applies to Democrats - like Don Siegelman and Bill Clinton. It's a political tool.
To be a Republican, you have to toss ethics out the window. The two are imcompatible.
On the plus side - we do tend to hold all politicians to ethical standards. A lesson they never learn?
