WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President-elect Donald Trump's transition team has signaled to congressional Republican leaders that his preference is to fund the border wall through the appropriations process as soon as April, according to House Republican officials.

The move would break a key campaign promise when Trump repeatedly said he would force Mexico to pay for the construction of the wall along the border, though in October, Trump suggested for the first time that Mexico would reimburse the US for the cost of the wall.

Trump defended that proposal Friday morning in a tweet, saying the move to use congressional appropriations was because of speed.

"The dishonest media does not report that any money spent on building the Great Wall (for sake of speed), will be paid back by Mexico later!" Trump tweeted Friday.

New York Rep. Chris Collins said Friday that American taxpayers would front the cost for the wall but that he was confident Trump could negotiate getting the money back from Mexico.[/div]

I can only surmise he campaigned on the disappearance of Kodak and Xerox, but he seems too stupid to actually know what they are.

Prime target for removal in '18.

IIRC - my mom was stating that he was actually running AGAINST Rochester - which 'suits' the people in places like Avon and Mumford.

and here it seems there are more of them.

At any rate, that guy has to go. Down here on Long Island's 1st district, we were shocked that our best shot to get rid of the current teabagger went down in flames, so we've been ramping up for '18.

Sad to say that Trump may screw things up badly enough that our job will be easier.

Like getting rid of them, but hate the idea that we have to see the nation screwed to do it.

leadership is Democratic. As are a number of the towns.

We had Tim Bishop (D) as our rep for years and while he never made big waves, he was reliably on the side of sense and promoted what you would call Democratic values. And always blew away the opposition.

But, he had been a top-5 target for years with incredible national GOP resources slamming him and barely made it thorough a recount. Two years ago they finally got him, but not by much.

His replacement won re-election by 14%. He's one of those active liars who will promise to keep Planned Parenthood around, but vote to defund it two weeks later when no one's looking. He's been bragging Trump-like about his VA, environmental, and other "victories" that really weren't. He came in spurred on by anti-Obama feelings, and this year I'm convinced it was Trump coattails. We'll see what happens in '18.

Like think driving THROUGH Dansville. I never ever stop there on 390 if I take that route to visit Rochester. What's surprising is Avon. Avon, Scottsville, Batavia, Leroy - (I grew up in Scottsville) were always kind of close knit and connected. My mom thinks there is a hard demarcation at the Oatka Creek now.
