Pope tells women to feel free to breastfeed in church

VATICAN CITY (AFP) -
Pope Francis encouraged women attending a ceremony in the Sistine Chapel on Sunday to feel free to breastfeed their children in the church.

"The ceremony is a little long, someone's crying because he's hungry. That's the way it is," the pontiff said.

"You mothers, go ahead and breastfeed, without fear. Just like the Virgin Mary nursed Jesus," he told worshippers attending an annual ceremony commemorating the baptism of Jesus.

But he seems smart enough to know which fights he can pick without having the College of Cardinals prepare the poison lol

This small statement will have the crazies up in arms for sure...
'A bare breast in the house of God??? I'm so offended.'

Yeah, that's because as far as you're concerned, it's not for feeding baby, it's a thing that exists to please your sexual and ego and nothing else...tell me again which one of you is the needy baby with the uncontrollable ego and endless narcissism?
NOT the baby. GOT it.

It used to be that abortion was such a major sin that it couldn't be forgiven in confession by an ordinary priest. (I don't remember the details but I think it would have had to be approved by a Bishop.) Pope Francis has announced that it can be forgiven by a priest in confession -- which puts it on a par with all the other sins a priest could absolve (and since Catholics believe all humans have flaws, they always have something to confess in Confession -- such as losing one's temper, or failing to share our belongings with the poor; or "coveting" our neighbor's things, etc.)

6. One mistake is claiming breastfeeding requires a breast to be exposed.

Many moms are able to nurse so discretely, you wouldn't notice them nursing unless you got right next to them and stared.

I'm reading this with 2017 as the backdrop, and thinking how bizarre the universe has become. The soon-to-be leader of the free world is sending mini hate messages to other powerful leaders with the flick of a finger. The planet has a fever and the prognosis is poor unless drastic measures are forthcoming. Pink and blue guns are acceptable gifts at baby showers.

I guess I just have a warped sense of irony.

My mom has the same attitude as my wife; nobody was going to tell her not to feed a hungry baby.

Another thing, it's not spoiling a baby to carry them around for as long as they want to be carried around. There are all sorts of ways to do that while keeping both hands free.

Societies go wrong in two ways -- it's those who objectify women, and those who think children interfere with "economic productivity." U.S.A. society is especially horrid in both respects.
