Facebook facepalm of the day.

Saw this on a feed, posted by a friend of a friend (I don't personally know this person):

I used to be a big fan of Meryl Streep. Then she made a movie about Margaret Thatcher - British PM and the 'Iron Lady'. The movie focused on Thatcher's last months of life when the great lady was suffering from dementia. Ignoring Thatcher's amazing life accomplishments, Streep basically made fun of her disability. How ironic.

So, this person somehow thinks that Meryl Streep, in playing a movie role of a historical figure who actually did suffer from dementia at the end of her life, was somehow making fun of her condition?

And the fact that Meryl Streep played a historical figure who actually did suffer from dementia is somehow equal or worse in degree than Donald Trump going up in front of his audience and mocking Serge Kovaleski, a reporter with a disability who had the gall to question Trump's non-factual account of September 11th, by mimicking his condtion and saying, "You've got to see this guy: 'Uhh, I don't know what I said. Uhh, I don't remember,' he's going like 'I don't remember. Maybe that's what I said.'"

5. Of course, her thinking Thatcher was a great lady should be a red flag.

But I'll bet that's one of the memes. I saw two people complaining about Streep's speech because she didn't mention the horrific incident in Chicago, so I figured that was on some talking points email. This probably is, too. I bet the person didn't even see the movie.

Any one thing is just like any other thing, as long as you feel that way. A sensitive film portrayal is the same as mockery.

... is that she gave a standing oviation to Roman Polanski, who was once accused of having sex with a 13 year old girl, back in 2002 so of course that invalidates all that "mean stuff" she dared to say about Trump.

But of course there's no problem that Trump was accused of the same thing and is an admitted sexual assaulter. No, no, that's just all "fake liberal news."

Assholes. Flaming, spewing, assholes.
