I think that they are all afraid of having their access cut off.

Obama's legitimacy was based on spurious allegations that he wasn't born in the United States. Trump's legitimacy is based on several factors, including losing the popular vote by nearly 3 million ballots; Republican disenfranchisement activities in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin and North Carolina; unprecedented interference in the election process by the FBI director; and incredibly inept campaign coverage by nearly all the popular media outlets. The last factor resulted in an electorate that was disinformed, uninformed, and just plain lied to for months leading up to election day.

In case you don't realize it, and being a major player in the last factor means you probably don't chucktodd, there's a big fucking difference between the challenges to each man's legitimacy.

with an actual problem (Russian interference, Comey's actions) in an attempt to equate the two as the same.

It isn't the same.

Congressional Republicans, most of them, didn't seriously believe Obama wasn't an American, but they enjoyed whatever problems it caused Obama.

There actually is a problem with what Comey did and what Russia did.

that the nonsense Obama had to contend with is of the same magnitude that Trump is dealing with... it would be a ChuckieTodd thing to do.
