Anyone see this anywhere? He listened to too much Wikileaks / Intercept / RT crap all last year.... so, is THAT where this crap is coming from?

(38,958 posts)I suspect that result (single payer) is highly unlikely.

Calling them vouchers. The way the rethugs have won the narrative is by the branding they use. So, let's start calling these what they are... coupons.
"You'll lode your Medicare, but the gov't will give you a 10% off coupon for whatever insurance you can find."
I know from personal experience re-branding with that phrase will make them start to listen.

(29,705 posts)IF you are lucky. And the coupon will be for medical care...not insurance.
In Arkansas, they want a block grant because it can be used anyway they want...it won't have to go to the intended purpose.

(47,209 posts)My friend was into the Wikileaks thing... when it morphed into Guccifer crap I had to push back. He'd gotten as far as the "Lock he up" shut before his wife and I sat him down and explained how he was fucking up Bernies campaign more than anything.
Now this? What?

(47,209 posts)I know Trump was trashing single payer as late as October... and thought all of his appointees and advisers weren't any where near supportive of single payer?
I'm at a loss about this one.

These are people who believe that Trump "means well" and is way better than Hillary.

I will say that name calling or sweeping generalizations does not add to the dialogue.

(3,554 posts)Now, only the insane would say that the GOP cares about people of color; or that the GOP cares about poor people; or that the GOP cares about woman; or the GOP cares about the middle class.
There are two things that the GOP does care about: (1). Taking care of the rich; and (2) protecting their political seats.
Repealing the ACA - is going to cause a lot of hurt (but it won't cure stupid) - and because of that the potential impact to item #2 will cause them to seek some answer that will work. The Dems aren't going to help them and they really have put themselves in a box - so the only viable solution for them - is single pay.
Of course, if the GOP could vote on a bill that only Rich, Old, White men would be covered - then they would be in heaven. But because the great unwashed have the right to vote (as of the time of this writing) - they will realize that that base (rich, old, white mean of property) cannot keep them in office - once those that voted for Putin's puppet realize how screwed they are - item #2 will motivate them.

Imagine how much money Twitler would save if he didn't have to shell out for health insurance for his employees in this country. It's a long shot, to be sure, but nothing would surprise me at this point. If he can get the government to pay his business expenses he's usually all in.

(7,233 posts)President-elect Donald Trump said in a weekend interview that he is nearing completion of a plan to replace President Obamas signature health-care law with the goal of insurance for everybody, while also vowing to force drug companies to negotiate directly with the government on prices in Medicare and Medicaid.
Trump declined to reveal specifics in the telephone interview late Saturday with The Washington Post, but any proposals from the incoming president would almost certainly dominate the Republican effort to overhaul federal health policy as he prepares to work with his partys congressional majorities.

He should probably run that by Paul Ryan at some point.

(19,564 posts)On Trump. They'll hate to have to do it, but they'll have to bring forth impeachment hearings. It will be billed as out of their hands, it was just too devastating to ignore.
But, Trump isn't going to push their hand that far, he's just blowing smoke up people's rear ends in an attempt to mend his unpopularity with voters. He's giving them a tiny (details to be disclosed later) nudge in any direction they care to wander. It looks like they're wandering just like he knew they would.
