Planes at LGA delayed an hour as Trump takes off on Air Force 2... (Original Post) brooklynite Jan 2017 OP
Maybe he should land at Stewart Airport. In_The_Wind Jan 2017 #1
It would take longer to get from Stewart to Midtown than it does from Washington to Stewart brooklynite Jan 2017 #2
The drive time is just over an hour. In_The_Wind Jan 2017 #4
No it is not...it is 1 hr 45 min from Midtown Manhattan. brooklynite Jan 2017 #5
My mistake: 1 h 42 min (65.4 mi) via Palisades Interstate Pkwy S In_The_Wind Jan 2017 #6

I know the runways and security at Stewart would fit Trump's needs. In_The_Wind Jan 2017 #10
FWIW, AF1 won't be able to land at LGA (Trump's preferred airport). He'll likely come in at JFK. brooklynite Jan 2017 #11
JFK is better equipped than LGA (which never impressed me). In_The_Wind Jan 2017 #12

I always know when Bill Clinton is in Westchester - his flight path (as far as I can tell, it's just for him) takes him right over my apartment building.

but I'm not sure the runways are long enough for AF1. But that's where Bill flies when he comes in by helicopter (so I assume I'll be hearing it tomorrow night).

I don't know anything about Westchester County Airport size.

Welcome home tomorrow night, Bill.

And now it's under a major renovation so it's even worse. I refuse to fly out of it. JFK for international and Westchester for domestic. I don't understand how lga could be anyone's favorite. BTW - I heard Bills helicopter around 8:00 last night.

The presidential fleet includes at least one 757. If he wants to fly to LGA, that's what they'll put him in.

If it was me I'd put him in a C-130 as palletized freight. Three guesses why I'm not the presidential loadmaster.

And the plane I took was a puddle jumper. I've never been on a (commercial) jet sized plane that departed or landed at White Plains.

but I've flown to Chicago, Houston and West Palm Beach from Westchester on jets - around 30 rows 4-6 seats across.

was a small one. Less than 20 rows, 3 seats across (2 on 1 side, 1 on the other-- not having a seatmate was nice). They gate checked all luggage bigger than a small duffel bag.

from Chicago but that was 10 years ago or so. I was actually flying back through Chicago from San Franciso and had to cut our trip short because a big President's Day snowstorm was coming. I had no idea small planes flew so much lower and I was able to watch the snow falling the entire trip. Got home just in the nick of time.

I think it's just a "special air mission" (SAM) with a president-elect on board.

Anyone?
