"America First"—the infamous slogan of the Nazi-sympathizing America First Party of the 1930s. Its use by Trump was not just some sort of random misstep. He'd used it before, during the campaign, and it caused quite a stir; he was asked not to invoke it. But he did. And it was a very loud dog-whistle to the White Supremacist bigots he has courted.

NOT the kind of thing you expect to hear in an Inagural Address.

Of course, the "American carnage" riff, with its imagery of tombstones strewn across the land, was a close second. Such dark invocations are not only incorrect but a strong indication of his apocalyptic vision of America.

I'm still reeling.
