They did have $90 million to blow on this thing, and we all know how fond Trump is of paying people to be human clapping seals.

I checked several locations and most of the way that seemed true. Of course, I was getting static shots of limited areas, but I remember looking at traffic cams in 2009 and 2013 and the crowds filled the sidewalks.

in comparison to the Obama inauguration. Trump's photo only shows about half of the area that the Obama photo does, and even at that the area is half empty.

Not only is the crowd super sparse, it looks bigger than it actually is at first. Look how far past that round building on the right the crowd was (and it was still packed) for Obama... the picture for Trump doesn't even go back that far because there was nobody there to include.

Thanks for the pictures!

After watching ESPN all day, this picture, the protests and watching Richard Spencer get clocked by a protester (Sorry, Trump and the GOP thinks there is too much political correctness, well today I agree), today was manageable.

Lane Stadium at Va Tech holds 70-75K this crowd is maybe MAYBE twice that size. Our anti-war march in October 2002 was at least 200K and it was bigger than that. There was almost no staging for that march - much of the area today had open spaces for crowd control and emergency entrance/exit if needed.

for an inauguration. The 250,000 is very likely double the real number. None of the seating was full (as it was during Obama and Bush I and Bush II and Reagan), and there were huge stretches of the parade route which were lined with police but zero spectators. When there were spectators, they were in small patches of two to three deep at the most -- nothing like Obama (or even Bush in 2004)

....and didn't vote in the election, this is all really happening because of about 26% of Americans. That's only a quarter. The majority really, really aren't for him. Really.

But we must organize. Fight. Not create a void of normalization around him. Because that quarter of the country is highly energized.

Don't be distracted by scandals that titillate but cause us to take our eyes off the ball. Begin by opposing everything. Call your local reps and senators. That's what the tea party did and today they have their "candidate" and the congress in tow.

For a study of how the tea party did it, (beyond Koch money) see:

This was done without the internet. Can this be done again? I'm thinking that the Women's March today is just the tip of the iceberg.
