you are a hypocrite. Pure and simple.
This isn't a Hillary appreciation rally though it was inspired by her candidacy. You don't have to like her to accept that.
The fact this is even something to fight over makes me ill. If you can't find the common ground with those who don't agree with you on every single issue - you're not off to a good start.
On edit.. ok, She wasn't the 'first' but is the first of a major party and was just last year.. Not to mention she wont the popular vote like she did.

(115,681 posts)That is what is seems like, I'd like clarification please. Thank you.

(16,672 posts)I am saying you're not going to agree with everyone on everything. I don't but that doesn't mean I exclude those I agree with on most things though there may be some I don't.
The fact is this whole rally idea was created because women were motivated by her female candidacy and to not even list her as someone who motivates women. Feminists are supposed to support woman achievements, strength etc.. I don't see this happening.

(13,390 posts)A republican suggested that we should celebrate Kellyanne Conway because she is the first woman to run a successful campaign.
Then we would go down the road of celebrating every single woman who has been successful in politics.
The list of honorees includes many obscure women who worked in the trenches.

(62,287 posts)Now please tell me how painful it would be to throw Clinton's name on there. Give me an exhaustive list of reasons why it shouldn't be done even though people are upset about it.
God. Such a trivial thing. Fighting over something so simple.
loyalsister
(13,390 posts)I'm just saying there might be good reasons for her not to be listed among honorees.
joshcryer
(62,287 posts)Whether or not you agree with them being upset about it.

(13,390 posts)I just don't understand why it's so impossible to believe that there may be good reasons that she isn't listed.

(62,287 posts)Add to the list. Go "oh shit, we didn't want to assume anything, sorry, you're right, we were insensitive."
Nope. Ain't happening. All this justification. All this bullshit outrage culture garbage.

(9,696 posts)It seems simple to demand that someone else change their criteria for whose on their list.
joshcryer
(62,287 posts)When people say they're upset about her not being on it.
Really. There's no logical, rational, human reason that you can make that makes sense, is compassionate, is logical and reasoned. None. People already tried to make the argument that "losers" shouldn't be on the list. Really. It's pathetic. That's why we lose
If it's nontrivial to simply add the popular vote winner to the list, whose supporters are hurt she's not on it, then those people have serious issues.

(9,696 posts)It was their list, they had their reasons.

On Thursday, January 19, the movement released a document about its guiding vision and definition of principles, which included the names of 27 women who have "paved the way" for equal rights. Clinton, who was the first-ever female presidential nominee for a major political party, was not among them and people took notice.

A petition on Change.org was created in light of the omission. "As activists and allies, we are dismayed that March organizers excluded Hillary Rodham Clinton as an honoree who has inspired women around the world to serve and to lead," the request reads.

They're trying to marginalize Hillary because we're angry she was left off the Honorees list. By any means it wasn't a complete list.. they left off Susan B Anthony for one other important Woman.. they need to go back to the drawing board.
If they can't find the common decency to add Hillary's name to the list then they have a big bitter problem.
Thanks nini

(27,848 posts)Limiting it to 27 women was ridiculous on its face. And no, Kellyanne Conway and Sarah Palin who didn't support progressive issues at all should not be included. Geeze, I would include Abigail Adams and Rosa Parks and Sacagawea and Kay Boyle and Florence Nightingale and Jane Addams and Geraldine Ferraro. Why did they even make such a puny list?

It will feature Hillary, her history of feminism, and the amazing march on Washington as a re-awakening of women in this century.

(44,261 posts)There are legit reasons to be annoyed at that butthurt organizer who is still bitter over primary 2016.
My big beef is they use a famous HRC quote as their guiding principle but don't say she said it. They don't credit the quote.
Seriously, wtf?
At best it is plagiarism, at worst it is a petty way to erase her service. trump-style.
Apparently that butthurt woman needs to take one last shit on HRC.
So yeah, people are pissed and are gonna call her out.
That being said, Everybody's gonna go to the march and stand together against Trump. That woman's bullshit won't stop anybody, this event is too big.

(62,287 posts)It goes viral, suddenly you are the spokesperson for an entire movement. And instead of being considerate, kind, and open, you just say fuck you to any criticism. It's cronyism to the core.
The women leaving comments on the WomensMarchOnWash page are extremely kind, considerate, and overall non-hostile in their request to include Clinton on the list of honorees.
But people still reply with hateful attitudes.
I think that by and large the event is going to be big, but I fear that there will be enough incidents of clashes between people who support Hillary too loudly and people who want it to just "be about women" that it will become the news as opposed to the size and solidarity of the march.
We'll see what happens. I hope I'm wrong and the shit stirrers don't actually get media coverage.

We do think her name should be on the Honoree list for Women paving the way for Women's Rights.
I really don't care that we're getting on your nerves.. we have a right to discuss this and you have an option to trash these OPs/posts instead of jumping on and telling us what to do.
Hillary's name missing from the Honoree's is a glaring omission along with Michelle Obama's and a lot of other Women who have paved the way.
The list as someone said "was puny".. they need to go back to the drawing board.

(3,077 posts)She helped pave the way to move forward. But that's just it, it's time to move forward. She is doing fine with her life. We need to keep the momentum and build on it. I am a feminist. This moment was about so much more than Hillary.
nini
(16,672 posts)None of the women listed should have been mentioned then since they were old school.
You can't forget the past to move forward.
Lotusflower70
(3,077 posts)You can't mention everyone either. I think it was smart not to focus on her actually. The movement doesn't need to give the Republicans any ammo. Lots of people at the marches had cardboard cutouts of her. From what I saw, people acknowledged her in their own ways. Some people wore the I'm with her shirts.

(26,404 posts)At the simplest form, if I'm a Feminist, then I will judge a woman the same as a man. If one particular woman lacks the qualifications then I should not endorse/vote for her if the man has greater qualifications (obviously having a penis does not count).
The hard part about being a Feminist is knowing when you have crossed into some old convention which puts a woman at a disadvantage because of gender.
(For the record, I voted for Hillary as obviously she was the most qualified person).
