So, I finally get his reasons for being ridiculous.

The march was a resounding success and he had to get the news cycle back to him. So he sends out Spicer to say crazy shit (obviously false), and he gives a strange speech to the CIA. Presto chang-0 he's the topic of conversation! The press and us are the dog from UP saying "squirrel"!

I don't want to listen to him or his camp any more, I don't want press briefings, tweets, news about or from him. All he does is lie and obfuscate anyway, why listen. I'll get analysis from BBC or here. I'm on enough civil liberty sites that I will get notified when I'm needed. We have to cut him off, it will be better for us and it will take away his power.

I disagree. He's ridiculous because he doesn't know how to be any other way. The Velveteen Ocelot Jan 2017 #2

There's no thought or strategy involved. He just has to be sure he's the center of attention at all times.

It's not calculated, like way the Rove/Cheney team strategized to control the message during the Bush era. Trump's ego is way too big for that. He doesn't need those things. In his mind, the CIA should have been grateful that he decided to honor them with his presence today. Wall of stars? Fuck that. Here's how Trump sees it: They're losers. They're dead. If they were winners, they would still be alive. Let's talk about how great I am.

as often as he can
just to keep the conversation on him and his stupid behavior
he can even throw in a cabinet scandal or two to change shit up every few weeks
meanwhile the nation goes down in flames thanks to GOP congress, governors, legislatures, and judicial picks

I know even liberal hosts feel they have to show excerpts from Dump's speeches, but I have been muting every one of his appearances since shortly after he entered the primaries.
