Example:
The Republicans are launching trial balloons for an offensive on the press. Sean Spicer devoted today's press conference today to attacks on press estimates of inauguration attendance, then stormed away without taking questions. And in a coordinated display at CIA headquarters, the new President spent most of his time similarly attacking the media's inauguration attendance estimates. The idea --- that access to government information can depend on reporting that twists the facts to help Republican spin-meisters --- is disconcerting enough. But in combination with the President's unsubtle hint that our intelligence agencies should also be interested in whether the press twists facts to save Republicans from embarrassment, the outlook seems sinister
