January 21, 2017 ...my day

(too blown away to get good photos....)

got on the bus in the middle of the night

arrived in Washington D.C. (with my new 50 sisters and a few of their partners!) a bit after 7am in and amongst hundreds of other buses

rushed through and by the other marchers to meet and have coffee with Senator Pat Leahy (he was offering a 7-9 coffee with constituents)... Senator Leahy was there (some said Rep Peter Welch was there but I didn't see him) greeting the hundreds+ Vermonters and, my new found friend from the bus, found the line for the bathroom and waited over 30 min. to use it, but alas, no coffee or bagels or fruit left

we went to find coffee on Pennsylvania Ave (Firehook Bakery and Coffee Shop), got the coffee and then headed down Independence Ave... looking down towards the west, beginning to see the massive crowds... arrived in sight of the National Museum of the American Indian, became entirely engulfed in the sea of people and realized we were never going to get anywhere near the platform (I had to call my SO at home watching on TV to tell us who was speaking ) the sense of what we were in the middle of was overwhelming!!

stayed immersed within the beautiful 'marchers' (standing our ground at that point) until about 2 or 3 when movement began and all headed towards the White House... again we realized we were not going to get much closer than 14th and Independence and delighted in sitting on the steps of the Department of Agriculture Building just marveling at the continual flow of smiling faces and clever signs, that never seemed to slow...

no rudeness, no mean words, only kindness, concern, respect among the close to 1,000,000 people there

headed East to find a place to get sustenance for the body (the soul was overflowing!!), ate a good sandwich on D St. sitting with fellow marchers talking steps forward that must be taken...

and then the walk back to the bus... ahhhh... walking through residential areas, the people were on their front porches and in their front yards cheering us on, applauding us, offering beer, use of their bathrooms and/or water if we needed it... seriously, this was incredible!

the ride back was talk of continued acts, sharing truths, our commitments... some sleep... and upon return to the park and ride lot, people had left notes on our cars thanking us for representing them in D.C.

Oh to be such an important part of Great History!

is that for every one of us that were fortunate enough to be able to march there were many others who feel the same way and are 100% in sync... we are stronger together

I was there too with my daughter and friends. It was amazing to come up out of the subway and be in the midst of thousands of people -- there was so much energy and enthusiasm and of the thousands of signs I saw, not a single misspelling on any of them!!!
