Something big is coming.

I'm reminded of this interaction from Aaron Sorkin's Sports Night:

DAN: Rebecca isn't here, Isaac isn't here, there's a strangeness about this day.

DAVE: 30 seconds live.

DAN: Eli's coming.

CASEY: Eli?

DAN: From the Three Dog Night song.

CASEY: Yes.

DAN: Eli's something bad. A darkness.

CASEY: "Eli's coming, hide your heart girl." Eli's an inveterate womanizer. I think you're getting the song wrong.

DAVE: In ten--

DAN: I know I'm getting the song wrong, but when I first heard it, that's what I always thought it meant, and things stick with you that way.

Something's going to happen. Something big. Something that the GOP and Trump will tell everyone we need to rally behind. Will the GOP create it? Maybe, if they have to. It's far more likely they'll find something that is about to happen, let it happen, and exploit it for political gains. Uniting the country behind a strong leader, etc... We've seen it all before under Bush Jr.

Everyone has to stay vigilant, and everyone needs to make sure that they know what's happening and what's changing. There are going to be changes. I've seen this post circulating on Twitter about resisting a fascist totalitarian regime, and one of the first things you need to do is track all of the small things that change, the things that are normalized. Look around on Twitter for it, it's usually accompanied by a terrifying list of things that have been changing almost imperceptibly.

Eli's coming.

And yes, I'm being pretty vague, because all I can see is a pattern forming. We've seen it before, and it is my strong suspicion. Am I certain? Nope.

But better safe than sorry.

My fervent wish is that someone bookmarks this and comes back in a couple of years to make fun of me for how wrong I was. I really want to be wrong.

If something is going to happen it'll be when everyone goes back to their normal lives thinking nothing much is going to happen for a while.

Because the 4th of July ain't good enough for the draft-dodging Comrade Casino, the KGOP and their anti-American agenda?

Why does the KGOP hate the 4th of July?

9. Trump will happen. Every day until a hopefully on the ball

Media and constant vigilance and pressure from we the people and whichever unpolluted politicians still exist lead to this falling apart.

Trump happening every day is disaster enough.

The optimist in me thinks this will fall apart quickly...we can't know how it will work out...but it will.

10. It is interesting how hard they are going at delegitimize got the press in their first days

Usually a new administration wants to start off smooth with the press Corp that will be covering them for the next four years, not pick fights on day one.

Telling trump supporters to not believe what you read in the press is someone to push back on.

Not particularly prone to conspiracies, but it does feel like it's part of their plan to stave off what's coming...
