As Good As Obama Was He Made Some Strategic Errors.

Obama mistakenly believed Republicans would work with him when they had already planned to scuttle his presidency. He also appointed GOPPERS to his cabinet and Comey to the FBI to show he was bipartisan. Do we see and Democrats in Trump appointees?.

He also did not publicize the Affordable Care Act and let the law speak for itself as Republicans attacked it. He never really defended it like he should have. He also supported "chained CPI" as part of a budget deal. And what was another error was pushing "fast track" and supported TPP when many workers and unions were against it. Such support hamstrung Hillary who could not go as far as Trump did on trade. And Clinton's support and signing of NAFTA was still remembered as a Democratic plan when the GOP and Bush negotiated it.

In the end NAFTA, GATT, favored nation status and other trade deals did not really benefit the US as it had been promised. Even though the GOP was primarily responsible for the loss of so many jobs the Democrats have gotten hung with it.

The GOP was the real culprit with this tinkle down economy yet the Democrats were hung as forgetting working class Americans.
Third way and bipartisanship has not worked very well. Plus the GOP has controlled the narrative for a very long time.

And he did damn fine.

I don't see how EVERY republican is racist. They ALL fought against him. If it was because he was black, I'd expect some republicans to side with him.

I think it was partisan, not racial.

racial is more likely.

He was treated far worse than Clinton in nearly every single way. He was brilliant in how he was able to perform his job, but that was in spite of all the road blocks thrown in his direction. Not to mention the level of demonization that was leveled at him.

It was racist.

I think it was more social.

The hate spreads faster and is easier to be more vitriolic.

Almost ALL republicans went against him on senate votes. I refuse to believe every republican senator is racist.

I believe it's easier to hate with how social media is. Almost all of the left hates Trump and it's not because he's white.

The fact of the matter is that no Democrat in the WH has ever had to deal with the level of obstruction that Obama has. None.

The things that has been said by repubs in DC has ranged from thinly veiled to outright racist. Their base is just as racist. That's where these people came from.

It is easy to hate, but don't believe for one second it's partisan or social. It's mostly racist.

Do you think Trump will have more obstructionism?

Now I know it's not the same. Trumps literally crazy.

But the republicans got people whipped into a fear over guns, emails, benghazi, and demonized Obama not because he was black but they portrayed him as a crazy leftist liberal.

Trump actually is a bad guy, but republicans portrayed Obama that way.

I think 25% of it was racial, 75% vitriol that spread very easy.

To me, Obama's shortfalls were overshadowed by his achievements and his remarkable ability to remain above the fray as the ReThugs threw up every roadblock imaginable.

We can find fault with his record but I will remember him for all the good he did within the narrow lane he had to negotiate.
